We all know that if Floyd had beat Margo everybody would've said he's still not the real ww champ. The bull**** never stops.
It was a slap in the face to Arum ... Floyd bout out his contract and fought for more money than he was getting to fight against Margarito. Since leaving TopRank ... his star power has reached an all-time high. He's making more money than he ever did w/ TopRank and he's making his own decision ... a dollar more is more than a dollar less ... you may say a whole dollar but it was more than what he was offered against Margarito and he got something out of it that he couldve never got from Margarito ... the lineal/undisputed title. He wouldve vacated that title that he won against Margarito ...
I would like to think so but I really have no way of knowing. I dont think anybody is scared of Margarito but Cintron.
He actually originally turned down the offer to pursue a fight with Hoya. Arum wanted Floyd to fight Margo in the summer, but Floyd had a tentative agreement to fight Hoya that September. After Hoya said he wouldn't fight again until the following spring, Floyd had to find a replacement. Arum had drove up the price for Floyd's services, so Floyd started his demands at 8 mill. He took the 8,000,000 offer from Goosen, added in the $1(probably to **** with Arum) and also received a percentage from the PPV.
Yes he would have. He's always tried to fight the champ of every divison he's been in. Hatton turned him down and there was no real champ at 154.
Exactly. They would have said who the hell is Margo and who has he ever beaten. He ducked Baldo to face Margo.atsch
And the critics wouldve called Margarito a bum and said that Floyd needed to step up and fight someone else to legitamize his status ... he wouldve had to fight the champion. If Arum was smart he wouldve set up a fight between Margarito v Baldomir ... they both wanted to bank a million dollars ... It wouldve been nothing to set that fight up. Just like before though MacMan ... when he beat Mitchell, he needed to fight a natural WW, he fought Judah - he needed to fight the WW champion -- he fights the WW champion and now he needs to fight Hatton because many felt he ducked Hatton at 140 ... he beat Hatton and it turns out that Hatton was too small and wasn't a real WW(but he is naturally bigger than Floyd and had previously won a WW title) He needs to fight DLH at 154 because thats going to be a weight thats too big for him and Oscar's strength will overwhelm him ... now Oscar is washed up. He needs to fight Cotto now ... I wonder what they will say once he beats Cotto?
Cotto was overrated and should have lost to Mosley and had to low blow Zab to win. It will never end.
Thats a damn shame ... I wonder if he will ever get the appreciation he deserves. But isn't Cotto the man to beat ... isn't Cotto the number 1 contender by Ring rankings? Isn't he supposidly cleaning out the division? Doesn't he have the more stellar WW resume? People forget what they say before the fight happens and their hatred runs so deep for Floyd that they would discredit him any time they can. I'm not going to forget what these guys say ... I'm sure they'll find an excuse for Cotto at the same time ... blaming it on the ref - pre existing injuries - or his corner.
I love Cotto but not as much as Floyd and my unbiased opinion is I just don't think he will beat Floyd. I have no clue what they will say when Floyd beats Cotto. They'll probably say he needs to fight Quintanna, Judah, and Williams in a fatal 4 way match.
