Medina is grinding in close and throwing short cuffing slaps across the back of Gonzalez's head. Gonzalez is rolling his upper body forward and chucking overhand rights, catching Medina with a flush left hook as Medina is pushing apart to get a little space to flurry. Gonzalez is shoving Medina back with outward twitches of his forearms and then slashing at the hips.

It has always seemed to me that Gonzalez thinks he is some explosive KO artist just because he is physically strong.

Newsflash, "Mantequilla"* - you can't be an explosive KO artist if you are slow as molasses and, compounding that absence of speed, have no punching technique or sense of timing whatsoever.

...and even KO artists need defense.


*Newsflash #2 - that nickname, meaning "butter" in Spanish, for boxers is supposed to convey smoothness of motion... not the consistency of your abdomen! :nono

 

Round 6

Medina is flopping in on Gonzalez, resting, throwing slap-hook flurries up and down Gonzalez's chest after propelling back a few inches with his palms on Gonzalez to spatula himself off for a little firing room. Gonzalez is digging his skull in at throat level and catching uppercuts on his crossed forearms, loading up on his own. Medina is going for the left hook on the chin as Gonzalez lowers himself to spring-load his body uppercuts, landing well but with little torque, just slaps.

Round 7

Medina is backing up, catching Gonzalez atop the bald dome with light sweeping left and right hook combos and then plugging the uppercut as Gonzalez takes his extra step pushing through. Gonzalez is lobbing hooks from Medina's trunks up to his ear, lunging as he comes forward, slow. A few body poke-jabs by Gonzalez as Medina gets some distance to sweep out the hooks.
