Maravilla says he can't deviate from his game plan at all and give Chavez any stupid chances. He isn't too worried.

I was really hoping we'd get to see Mikael Zewski tonight, he's fighting on this card tonight as well.

Chavez says that Martinez has a complicated style and isn't a stable target. He says the punches come from different angles, sometimes thrown while off balance. He says it will be difficult since Martinez doesn't let you get settled.

Chavez doesn't expect his foe's age to be a factor at all, unless he can force a hard, intense fight on him for several rounds to make it show. He isn't counting on that as integral to his strategy, though.

He dismisses any criticism of his training methods or habits. He says he works hard and so far it's worked for him. He says the weight is on point.

Damn, Julio kind of knows his business..

Chavez's new haircut + demeanor make me feel he's in for one of these:

Bernardo Osuna is a big dude. He's sitting next to Andre Ward and it looks like it could be a weigh-in face-off.

Both guys are saying the right things now. The bravado seems to be edging now that fight time is getting closer.

Martinez needs to stay on his gameplan, or Jr. will walk him down and hurt him.

Jr. needs to press Martinez and those 37 year old legs.

Will Martinez be able to hit Jr. with something solid enough to slow him down? That is the key, IMO, of the entire fight.

    Ward flashing that million-dollar smile.

I thought maybe he'd shed the nice guy schtick after showing his nasty side in the build-up to Dawson (and while kicking his ass) but maybe it isn't a schtick after all.

Martinez is right but he's old. Chavez Jr. has a chin and just might walk him down.
