Chavez starts to move forward but thinks better of opening up with a punch, instead dropping his forearm on Verdejo's back to push down on him slightly. Verdejo keeps axing over the top with his right hand behind the jab as Chavez raises his arms defensively and tries to sneak in his own jab.

Yeah, Verdejo had the bad luck of running into Vasyl Lomachenko (the eventual gold medalist) in the quarterfinals. Had he drawn someone different, maybe he'd have a bronze.

Verdejo is jabbing and curling rights over the top. Chavez backs up and turns over a few slow left hooks in Verdejo's path. Verdejo waits, resets, and comes in behind the long jab. Looping rights behind the jab as Verdejo keeps working his way forward on the shorter Chavez.
