Yeah, I've learned to never look at the screen or keyboard while typing whenever I can help it, as that always happens to be the moment I miss something important. :-(

Arums aged quite a bit in the last year or two. Don King on the other hand... Has looked exactly the same for what, the last 20-30 years?

The boxing promotional landscape in the US is changing like crazy...

Goossen passed away. Shaw was bought out. GBP is a different company now with Oscar as the actual head and not just a figurehead with Schaeffer running things. King has faded into obsolescent irrelevance.

The only mainstay from like a decade ago is Top Rank.

    :rofl:rofl

This is technically a world title bout, and yet third-billed and subordinate to a pair of 10-rounders (with Trout and Grajeda both having lost two of their last four; and the other featuring a 46-year-old against someone coming off a loss) :patsch

    Round 1

Escandon is walking down the much taller Cave, holding up a turtle shell, diving in with rights on the body. Cave is dancing around, popping in with light point-scoring taps before slinking out again, loose-legged. Cave is getting arrogant, coming in with both hands low or in a southpaw Philly shell, leading with left uppercuts and throwing blinding right jabs on the way out, everything light and low-impact.

    10-9 Cave

    Round 2

Escandon is looping big rights and following with left hooks, stepping in and headhunting but falling short. Cave is doubling and tripling up on quick right jabs on the outside. Left uppercuts by Cave jumping in after spinning his fist in the air behind himself. Lots of showboating and dancing around by Cave.

    10-9 Cave

    20-18 Cave

Cave's from my hometown, so I feel obligated to root for him. But while he's quite slick, I'm a little surprised to see him doing so well in a fight of some importance. Have to question whether Escandon is as good as I thought he was.
