I had more faith in Escandon being able to do it, but he is looking confused early on by the 'cuteness' of his old amateur rival.

 

Round 3

Escandon is plunging in with the right hand on the body. Cave is jabbing high and low, bowing in, leveraging his body against Escandon's and dancing away, flurrying up into his face as he fades out of the pocket and ducks to slip Escandon's hooking attack. Escandon is trying to stay in Cave's chest and work the body, getting shoe-shined on his own.

Atlas is right, I sense a sea change happening too.

Escandon is getting to him...chickens are coming home to roost with that wasted movement...

Round 4

Escandon is jabbing up at the face and lancing Cave in the sternum and pit with rights. Escandon is covering up as Cave hits the brakes while doing carousel sprints and sprays in 10-punch combos leaning forward like an uppercase C, staying outside.

Round 5

Escandon is rolling in, slow and steady, throwing rights at the body and jabbing at the faraway moving face of Cave. Buckets of water dumped in by Cave from outside. Escandon freezes in place to block while Cave is flurrying. Right hand by Escandon, partially on the back of the head. Cave is hurt and running. Escandon chases him into the ropes and lands a couple more, one after the bell.

Round 6

Escandon is getting close by riding the conveyor belt inside, putting on earmuffs as Cave plays whack-a-mole with light but long-lasting flurries. Escandon scores with body shots and grazing left hooks as he closes ranks with Cave, all while consistently blocking straight punches and catching hooks on the backs of his wrists, shooting them up quickly as needed.

Round 7

Escandon is taking a couple of steps in, throwing his jab once anchored, reaching with the right cross as Cave hops away. Cave is jumping in and barking, throwing flurries all over the head of Escandon, slithering out with his gloves dragging by his ankles.

Round 8

Escandon is walking halfway in, pausing, and letting Cave flurry. Escandon is catching most of what Cave throws on his arms but a few are trickling in and he is throwing nothing back. Nonstop in-and-out movement by Cave, throwing light punches and connecting some left hands flush on the forehead of Escandon. A few glancing jabs by Escandon, very gun-shy.

Round 9

Escandon is backing off, swaying as Cave moves in with a blocked 1-2. Cave is caught with a right hand and resets, circling wide. Escandon is still freezing when Cave is spewing his leather diarrhea, which is virtually every second. A few claws at the body in close for Escandon, and the odd jab - not scoring at that low a clip but just not throwing anything.
