"Friday Night Fights might be done until 2011, but the boxing keeps coming. Fight fans who are no doubt having withdrawals about the end of the 2010 season of ESPN Friday Night Fights on ESPN2 will be happy to know that ESPN3.com is set to keep things rolling on the boxing front. ESPN today unveiled their upcoming lineup of boxing coverage on the U.S. based online network, as well as other ESPN platforms. Things get started this Saturday (9/4) as Felix Sturm will defend his WBA middleweight strap against Giovanni Lorenzo. The fight will air at 4:30 pm ET / 1:30 pm PT live on ESPN3.com and ESPN Deportes. On Sept. 11, ESPN3.com will air the live heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Samuel Peter at 5 pm ET / 2 pm PT. ESPN Deportes will air the fight on tape-delay later that night at 8 pm ET / 5 pm PT. On Sept. 17 at 8:30 pm ET, ESPN will celebrate Mexico's 200 years of Independence by airing the Bicentenary Carribean Rumble. The rumble will feature Wilbert Uicab taking on Edren Dapudong while the co-feature pits Alisher Rahimov against Jose Emilio Perea. The card will air on ESPN3.com, ESPN2 and ESPNPlay. Then on Oct. 16, ESPN3.com will air Vitali Klitschko's title defense against Shannon Briggs live from Germany at 5 pm ET with ESPN airing the replay the next day at 2 pm ET. Finally, on Nov. 8 at 8 pm ET, ESPn3.com and ESPN2 will air a live boxing special that will be detailed at a later time. ESPN Deportes will carry the special on Nov. 9 at 9 pm ET.
I wonder if the Klitschko have signed a contract with ESPN. Both of their bouts will air on various ESPN channels in the next two months. Hopefully they have stopping trying to deal with HBO and have struck some kind of deal with ESPN.
