Yeah it was like Danrex was like "...are you SURE you want to stay down, son? You mean this is the moment this all built up to, with the rest of these people in the crowd and I, we all hung around this whole afternoon just for you to buckle and have a seat the moment somebody lays a decent shot on you? C'mon... Alright, 9 and nine tenths... You're sure?" :sisi1

Gerry is a legend. Probably my all-time favorite Pinoy boxer.

Yep if i remember right was also not beaten decisively by anyone except juanma but by then it was already a miracle that gerry was still able to win his second title. Oh and that body shot on gonzalez. THAT BODY SHOT.

WTF?!?! Out of bemused curiosity I looked up who the #1 Tanzanian p4p is and discover that Sam Eggington was KTFO by some previously unheard of Tanzanian dude a couple of weeks ago?

edit: ah, on the Amir Khan vs. Sam Vargas undercard, I see. Was it televised? How did this "Hassan Mwakinyo" fellow look? Fluke KO?

Gerry always comported himself like such a gentleman, so for his nephew to be sporting a neck tat - of a stylized cartoon skull with flames instead of eye sockets? :sisi1 - is jarring.

Does he run with a biker gang when he isn't training for a boxing match?

They've spoken English for like 88% of this broadcast, and then all of a sudden they'll just go full-on Tagalog for a couple of minutes chatting back & forth and then switch back.

Tanzanian lit him up with quick punches that rocked Eggington. Who at this point refused to hold or try to avoid the shots.HE was just eating shots after shot perhaps in a belief that he can somehow take all the shots and return fire and at some point he could turn the tide. But no it wasn't to be the Tanzanian used Eggington's head as target practice bing, bing, bing, he couldn't miss Eggington's head he was wobbling the ref saw enough and stopped it.

No, Hassan beat the hell out of Eggington.. Held him close in the first, shook him late, and then pasted him throughout the second to force the stoppage. Eggington may well have taken him lightly, but Mwakinyo definitely earned that W.

Although we could still watch it with the Hola extension (eternally grateful to @IntentionalButt for the heads up about that), hopefully ESPN5 doesn't geoblock the Petalcorin-Alvardo card next month. They did great numbers for this Penalosa card and that card looks to be even better. The main event is sure to be a world class war. Haskins looking to win on the road against a "better than his record" suggests fighter in Demecillo. Bornea taking a huge step up in class against Jaro. And a bonus in watching one of my fav prospects, Dave Apolinario, get a sure win.
