I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility that Edwin would beat Marquez at 135lbs too, Bodhi.
In terms of ability, longevity, accomplishments, and resume...I think I probably did underrate Chavez at 40-50, on second thought.
Yey OK Addie you do the same **** to everyone else, and you dont like it when someone strongly disagrees with you ok here is my opinion on ESPNs top 20 Holmes- Well on my rough draft list id have to say i have Holmes around 25 no lower than 30,and my no.3 hW. He was actually placed decent compared to many on this list. Chavez- IMO Chavez is closer to 10 but at least ESPN rates him higher than many others here do. Holyfield- I think this rating is appropriate he was super dominate at Cruiser and moved up to become an all time great heavyweight, and an HTH great Heavyweight(BOwe) He is a modern day EZZARD not as good defensively but for him to move up and beat quality fighters so big counts for a lot in my book. Tyson- im a huge Tyson fan but i have to admit this was to high i have Mike around 50, and i know some of you think that is still to high Duran- Way WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY to ****ing low:twisted: He is no lower than 3. Jones --- IMO Jones is very hard to rank HTH he is very high one of the best ever but he also turned me off with his Cherry picking, although winning titles from MW to Heavy was a great accomplishment even if it was against Ruiz and not Lewis. Ruiz was still a solid top heavyweight, I have Jones anywere from 12,13 to 25. Pep- Way too low this criminal considering some of the guys ahead of him, Pep is top 5 for sure. Moore- one of the fighters who was placed properly. Fraizer- Well i love Joe but this is ridiculous a clear sign that this list was made for alot of casual fans who want to see popular fighters on this list. Actually Fraizer just makes my top 10 heavys so you know i think he is waaaaaaaaay to high here. Foreman- ^^^^ although i have Foreman as my top 5 heavy. Hagler--- Well i have him around 15 so this isnt to bad. Leonard- Actually i have Leonard around 5,6 ish. Johnson- Ok i think hes a little high but seeing how dominated his time i can see this point of view. Armstrong- i know anyone ranked this high is a boxing God, however i still see this as disrespectful to Hank, he actually has a case for #1 and any lower than 3 is complete bull****. Dempsey- Well many times i get on some of the youngsters here on ESB of not being being aware of certain fighters and realizing how great and the impact they had on their times. i know Dempsey was one of these fighters and most that were alive from his era would agree with this high ranking. ....... However he is waaaaaaaaaay to ****ing hi Bill Gallo said it best on this clip. Marciano- I rate Marciano higher than a lot of people on ESB as far as PFP criteria. Think if he fought today at Cruiser? He would definitely be considered an elite atg and pfp great. But this ranking like many of the other heavys is a High. Robinson---- To damn low this was a popularity contest. I have him as high as everyone else Louis- I like Louis and hes my number 2 all time heavy but no way is he this high, I wouldnt argue with number 10(even thats high). Ali-------- Greatest heavy , but i have him around 5ish pfp. Ok GOOD THREAD ADDIE:good:good:good I liked watching this again and dissecting it. Obviously ESPN was biased toward heavyweights and this was almost like a populartity contest more so than a legit list. I would think Sugar,Gallo,Kellerman and some of the others would agree. They mentioned Lamotta,Tiger,Sadler as some of the greats not on this list another obvious sign of trying to get the nod from the general publics opinon. They ommitted Langford,Fitz,Barbadoes Joe turn of the century fighter who PFP were arguablly better than Johnson at least Langford was thats for sure. Greb and Ezzard being ommitted was the biggest foul up here. Walker,Leonard also should have been on the list.
What the hell is your malfunction, Anarci? You've been giving me a lot of **** lately...I'd like to know why.
I gave you good props Addie on the post so quit bitching:good PS you didnt acknowledge me on your fav list you must have forgot!! U also do alot what accuse me of doing. Shoot me a PM.
If it's any consolation, I just forgot about you...I forgot about Butcher and Teeto also, two of my favorite posters. I'm dismissive and disrespectful to those who come out with stupid nonsensical bull****...not to someone who rates Chavez a little lower than most. You even went as far to imply that I'm hater, even though I've spent countless hours watching many of his fights of which I own. He's right up my alley, you know this.
OK i hear you:good But how much have you seen of the guys you rate above him? What do you think of my opinions on the ESPN list?
Anarci, I've always maintained that I've never had a real solid list, and even if I did, it'd have been taken with a pinch of salt because I'm a young guy, I haven't seen everything there is to be seen, I haven't read every article in existance. My knowledge is paper thin. With that said, I have a good idea of where some fighters would probably be in the context of other era's and I agree with most of your opinions regarding the ESPN list. Pep is criminally low. Shockingly low.
Read my post again i neve said you were a hater i just said you rate him lower than even his haters yet you say you are a big fan. Your low ranking of him surprised me since i know you are a big Chavez fan. Dont be jaded by all the classics biased for the old fogeys. I give them their props but im not deliusioned by nostaliga or amount of their fights. Im in between i dont dismiss them nor do i modern day fighters.
I've also had a change of opinion on Chavez. If what I say is true, and I rate fighters according to following criteria: Resume, ability, longevity, and accomplishments, he'd have to be higher than 40.
Actually i dont know if if i have enough time to make out a list that would even please myself. Its a headache just seperating a list of 10,15 guys much less seperating 2 guys. Im happy and confident in my opinions when i say Chavez is 10is no lower than 15 and Delahoya and Lopez being top 35:yep:yep Michael Spinks no lower than 25,Tyson 50ish, Barrera 50 ish. Tapia 100ish. Actually just ask me some opinions and i can give you a perspective. Although as far as an exact order on where id have them nut, im sure i would disagree with the list the next day.
