Someone in here has claimed that Andrew Golota easily handled David Tua in sparring.

It wasn't unusual in the '40s and '50s to see quality fighters being owned in sparring. They checked their egoes at the door -- worked endlessly to perfect a single move, looking dreadful in the process.

The gym fighters always looked spectacular, but never progressed beyond that.

 

Apparently Kid Diamond bloodied Spinks' nose and bothered him with shots to the body. Strange, since he can't (legitimately) beat a fighter with the least bit of mobility.

 

I heard a rumor that before his scheduled fight with McCline last Fall, Vitali Klitschko was getting beaten up in sparring, but I have no idea if it's actually true or if it's merely McCline's frustration over the cancellation of the fight.

 

Even if it's true, TFD, it means nothin' if he was workin' on perfecting a move.
