i actually think marquez is quite good at LW. but how would he fair vs other top level LW's?

namely esteban de jesus. the only man to be beat duran at 130.

Well, I think this might be bad for Marquez chin. Good match up, but I have only seen the three de jesus fights against duran. That left hook is sneaky, quick, and powerful and he seemed a great boxer. I have seen a lot more of Marquez and he has really only looked shaky against stellar opposition and in the first diaz fight, or when he wouldn't pull the trigger against Norwood. Ironically the guy who was able to plant a left in his face every second was Casamayor, really sneaky left hand. Marquez is lucky that fight didn't go differently. I guess I have to say De Jesus but I think it could wind up being very very even or even seeing Marquez outclass him with solid counterpunching. I think our lightweight period is exceptionally strong, perhaps the best ever, and Marquez belongs right at the top of it with the other guys like Marco and Eric.

For me the better matchup for Marquez at lightweight would have been Castillo. Im still spit on that fight. Other than that Barrera and Morales in their prime would have been awesome as well.

I am not a big Marquez fan, but I think he gets by Dejesus by decision.

i know de jesus ended up losing a few times, but his achievements at LW were solid. he was a solid champ and was the only man to beat duran, dropping him on the way. to do that to duran at 130 is awesome. and noone before or after could achieve it.

that being said marquez is a very good fighter with a very good style. His speed, technique, timing and power make him competitive vs a lot of fighters.

Marquez is to hittable at the weight...he is very good still but not at his very best. And not as good as prime Dejesus.

Esteban drops or badly rocks Marquez a couple of times on his way to a pretty comfortable decision.
