Very good matchup! I'd side with DeJesus. Chapo was the bigger puncher, but DeJesus was a smoother technician with more toughness, and he was a pretty good puncher himself. Consider that DeJesus was only really beaten in his prime by Duran and Cervantes, two guys who were on a different level than Rosario. DeJesus late TKO in an excellent fight.
DeJesus would have outpointed Rosario IMO. He was more complete than Edwin and I don't think he would have sat still and consented to having his chin clocked by his opponent.
Do you think DeJesus was better than Camacho then because macho struggled badly after being hurt midway through his bout with Rosario? One thing though if Edwin caught DeJesus with that hook he caught macho with I don`t think Estaban would survive it! That shot might have knocked Duran out!
If dejeus couldnt ko cholo edwin not going to ko cholo Look at the left hook brakley hit duran and duran was still standing . Estban by 8 round homicide
Barkley hit harder than Rosario because he was a middle but I didn`t see him time a shot like the one Edwin caught Camacho with.
watch Duran Dejesus II Cholo was taking some wicked left hooks or Duran vs Hector Thompson Duran was catching hell from him.Broke Cholos ribs. Thats a dam good fight Dejesus and Edwin. Still go with Estaban.
Esteban by Md over 12. If Edwin developed like he was when he got Viruet, he would've gotten him by late stoppage.
Tough call; great matchup. I think I need to watch more de Jesus fights (I've only seen him against Duran and Kid Pambele). Any other recommendations?
In their Lightweight primes, DeJesus was the 2nd best Ltwt fighter around...and was given a fair shot pre-fight to beat Duran by observers. Duran visited DeJesus before Esteban passed away in 1989. Interesting that DeJesus was a stablemate of Wilfred Benitez, and trained by Wilfred's dad Gregorio per Wiki.
