Ramirez was great at pushing technically superior boxers and I think he was unfortunate to lose to Arguello and Rosario (first fight) and he had an atg chin for my money. That being said, he certainly had limitations. He got busted up by Camacho, who isn't completely unlike Dejesus Dejesus was a brilliant combination puncher with very underrated pop in his fists, especially the left hook. He also had sound foot movement and good all around defense and if had fought before or after Duran's reign of terror he could potentially have established himself as a top ten all time lightweight. How does this turn out.
I'd favour DeJesus but it's hard to pick. Ramirez looked relatively good against Arguello, Rosario, Boza-Edwards and not too shabby against Whitaker (the first go around) and Chavez too. On the other hand, he looked borderline ******ed against Camacho and Mancini. I guess it depends on which Ramirez turns up. I wouldn't be surprised here at anything between a DeJesus shutout to Ramirez possibly edging ahead in a 15 rounder giving that DeJesus didn't have the best stamina going around.
I don't ever see Ramirez stop trying, but in the end it would be DeJesus on a wide decision in a no-knockdown affair. Scartissue
Dejesus. I see him throwing lead rights and coming across with that outstanding left hook all night. Better movement too. Just doesn't seem like a great matchup for Ramirez.
I agree with this, i like the tools that Dejesus has to put to good use in this fight, left hook, noce combos at mid-range etc. But i like the work ethic and straight left hand punching of Ramirez. I'll take Dejesus tentatively over a gruelling (at times) one.
DeJesus would win 12 out of 15 rounds for the UD, the man beat Duran once and gave him a good fight the second time for Pete's sakes.Ramirez is on a lower level.
