Dawson vs. Johnson

This was a very entertaining fight. A slick boxer vs. a great pressure fighter. Johnson proved me wrong in this fight. I thought he was washed up, not the case. His defense was pretty good, and never really seemed to get tired. As far as Dawson, he showed good speed and combination punching. When he decided to box Johnson and use his moverment, he had a lot of success. His problem in this fight is that he went straight back too much. This left him open for straight rights. His chin looked suspect as well. Many will cry robbery in this fight, but Dawson was active enough, and landed enough hard shots to pull out the hard earned victory.

Woods vs. Tarver

No comment, I didn't watch this fight. It's good to see Tarver get a good win. It's especially good to see an American take a belt away from a British fighter.:yep

Margarito vs. Cintron

This fight was over after the first round. Sure, Cintron won that round, but he was hitting Margo with bombs that didn't even phase him. Being that Cintron does not have much in the way of movement, he was cooked after it was establised that his power wasn't enough. The rest of the rounds consisted of Margo beating the **** out of Cintron. After the 3rd round, it was obvious that Cintron was in survival mode and only wanted to get past the 5th round. To his credit though, that body shot was legit KO punch. I'll tell you what, Margo is a hard ass. That's what the sport needs. He mocked Cintron at the weigh in and then was taunting him as he laid on the canvas in agony after that body shot. Cintron has no future at WW

Cotto vs. Gomez

This was a showcase fight for Cotto. It seemed like he was intent on pleasing the fans and trying out new things. He kept switching stances, he held his hands low at times and looked even better with that jab. The right hand is also looking better, and his accuracy is sick. After the 2nd round I told my brother that Gomez would have a tough time making it to the 6th round. Many people will say that Cotto was taking it easy on Gomez in the 5th. I think he let up so that he could get in more rounds, and continue beating up on Gomez. Cotto was running the whole round despite the fact that Gomez posed no threat. However, Gomez was done at this point. He went down on a jab that didn't even land flush. At the end of the round, Cotto hit him with a two piece and Gomez froze up. Cotto could've finished him off at this point, but he backed up; clearly hoping that they would let Gomez come out for the 6th. Thankfully, they stopped the fight after the 5th. Great showing by Cotto, and great job by HBO pushing for a Cotto/Mayweather fight. Cotto/Margarito will be an entertaining fight that should see Cotto come out on top.

 

He was actually motioning for Cintron to get up, I thought he was counting at first as well. Talk about adding insult to injury. Margarito will own Cintron for the rest of Cintron's natural life. Every night when Cintron goes to bed, he'll have nightmares about Margo.

 

That's just plain rude. No need to resort to name calling.

 

Well, he was dealing with Weak minded pugilist Kermit Cintron. His legendary training is no match for that.
