Would anyone say that Chris Eubank is an all time great? From what i've gathered the general feeling is that he was a great fighter, just not quite an all time great level fighter.
I think he was a great fighter. He achieved great things at 160 and 168. He had a great win in Benn and numerous good wins like Rocky and Watson. I also think Benn was a great fighter. We are talking about top5 168 pounders.
Total abuse of the G word. Eubank was my favourite fighter of the 90s, but there is nothing to suggest he was/is ever great. Very few fighters ever become great, there was 10 tops who fought in the 90s and that was because some fought way past their best (Leonard, Hearns, Chavez, Whitaker etc). Eubank was a good fighter.
He was totally harmless, thick as they come, but he wanted to learn. You cannot hate a fighter who read some of the dictionary before a press conference. The only thing he did that bugged a bit was driving that stupid truck thing though Brighton blocking roads.
Not a great though his fight s with Benn ,Watson, and Thompson were wars, very good but just falls short, too many questionable decisions against distinctly average contenders, imo.
