I'm curious if this was a decent fight or not I just downloaded a good copy of it but im not going to watch it without some feedback no spoilers though please
the first fight is the better fight and as a benn fan that is hard to say even now. it is a top fight between to fighters with a grudge at the time. the second fight is a good fight possibly not as exciting as the first but well worth a watch and i had Benn winning that . but Eubank did seem to get the benefit from the judges in close fights
it's one of my favourites for what it's worth (the first one). most of it has been said but it was a great contrast of styles and made for a methodical war
Benn came steaming out and for three rounds was looking to end it at every split-second. But Eubank was pure mustard in those first few rounds. In the 4th, Benn's eye shut from a right and Eubank's tongue split from an uppercut. Then it was more cautious, again Eubank schooling Benn (at the slow pace as he did at the fast pace). Both men doing lots of feinting from the outside, playing cat and mouse (reversing roles). Eubank continued to get in the sneakiest of rights and soak up the most powerful of rights, until Benn was defeated. Benn's robust body shots, though, were banging Eubank's ribs and kidneys. Looked so painful, considering Chris looked so slight and ripped that night. When there was action, it was often violentish, and the contest just seemed warrior-like.
The first was a great fight which had a kd against Eubank. It was going Eubank's way for the most part but Benn was game throughout. The second was much closer and a bit more tactical. Many thought Benn won it but still it's worth a watch as is the first.
Benn - Eubank 1 is an absolute war. It's not labelled the british Hagler-Hearns for nothing. I hope you enjoy it mate! I can't believe it was nearly 21 years ago!! The second fight was nowere near has good though, although still exciting and watchable because of the occasion.
Amazing how much eubank's accuracy had declined in the 2nd bout.Though Benn was more defensively responsible.Always thought benn was quite naturally talented defensively actually, though he never really learned to integrate it as well as he could have. Eubank should have moved up to light-heavy circa the Benn rematch.
