I must admit i find that very hard to believe. I don't know anything about Schommer, i've not even seen his fight with Eubank but i've been wanting to see if for a long time, but given the guys those repective men fought i highly douby they'd be scard of an unknown like Dan Schommer.
I like Chris, he was my hero as a kid but he's talking out his backside when putting Carl's name into this. Who the hell is Carl supposed to face? .
His opposition was shite over a lengthy period of time. Let's not start pretending that Carl Thompson was a particularly good Cruiserweight. He wasn't. Sure he was fun, brave and hit hard. But frankly he lacked ability, deservedly losing every round to Johnny Nelson before the fortuitous stoppage. As for the rest, Watson was a good fighter, and it showed, having the beating of Eubank twice in the majority of both fights. So was Calzaghe, and he was outclassed there too. Same in the second fight with the past-prime Collins. Other than those, Eubank's opponents were at best mediocre and at worst truly pathetic, and I include Malinga and Rocchigiani, who fought as if he was ill (I believe he was). Eubank is the most one-dimensional mofo in British boxing history. He is also the most overrated. Eubank was NOT competing at world level for the majority of his bouts. He was competing at a glorified Intercontinental/European level. That is what the WBO catered to. Deal with it.
