Eubank was past it, coming off losses and 2 exhibition fights overseas. That fight was as big of a joke as Calzaghe's entire career.
He slapped the lot silly alright. Lacy Kessler 44 year old Hopkins(life and death experience) Beyond past it Roy Jones(Hilarious first round knock down) Pudwell Manfredo Jr. Bika(Epic HBO debut) Veit Salem Do I need to add more?
Calzaghe hit a bit better back then, he only turned slappy later when his hands werent so strong and he found slaps could give him easy points wins and 'early stoppages' at home. Eubank wasnt interested in winning tbf, he'd won a title and defended it a record number of times already, was now on a losing streak and he just wanted the cash quick to retire, thats why he accepted a fight he'd not trained for, whereas Cal wanted it bad, he'd never had a world title not even a little one like this. There was nothing new or valuable for Eubank about rewinning the WBO title and covering old ground again. Still a good victory by Zaghes considering he wasnt quite prime, he still beat a tough SOB.
Another day, another American on ESB who just can't get over Calzaghe :rofl:rofl This content is protected This content is protected 46-0 - deal with it :hi:
Kessler shouldnt be on that bum list, not at all. That was a good win for Calzgahe, that was absolute prime Joe. Shame he either took so long to reach his prime, or took so long to get the guts to face a Kessler level opponent. OMG Lacy lol course he was the betting favourite, because Calzgahe had done bum all for ten years except prove he had great fitness and good mental stability for a long long run as WBO champ. Who wouldnt be the betting favourite against a closeted minor champ? At least Joe did get some good wins in the end. oh **** me we'll all have to start scrolling past those 3 year old cut and pasted posts coming this way from Bailey soon. please mamma, noooo...
eubank loves the sound of his own voice too much. he's so mad that Carl has surpassed him that he degrades an entire era that was far superior to his.
Eubank should give it a rest. Lately he's blabbering on about the super-middleweights far more than when he was boxing. It won't be a surprise to hear Chris jr soon getting sick of him interfering with his career either.
Boxing News predicted for Eubank and 100 years of Boxing News claimed Eubank was the favourite. I remember being in a fish and chip shop the day of the fight and nobody felt Calzaghe would beat Eubank. I cant recall betting odds, but seem to remember Eubank being built as the favourite and then he got put down in the first round
