Especially against Groves, a vicious hitting big super middleweight, something Eubank wasn't. And if he'd started a bit earlier against Saunders he might have nicked it
I dislike the "if eubank had started faster he'd have won it" narrative to be honest, because he didn't really start slowly, he just thought he could outbox BJS which put the fight at a slower pace. I think if he'd started by charging forward all guns blazing it would have been similar to Saunders' performance VS Lemieux and if anything he'd have lost even wider as he wouldn't have had the remains in his gas tank in the late rounds.
Whereas I genuinely see it as a fight of two halves, I don't think Eubank was as confident in going 12, so didn't put his foot on the gas, until he gained some momentum. First half Saunders, second Eubank.
He's a pretty cynical chancer really. His talk about outclassing Golovkin before shamelessly swerving the fight could have been excused if he hadn't then mocked the 147 pounder who did get in with GGG. Pretty hard to throw in the towel in a fight you refused to take. The media tour he did as Nick Blackwell was fighting for his life was pretty distasteful too. He's a fringe contender with a good engine and chin who's milked the family name to the hilt. No doubt he's looking to fight the absolute prince of boxing's Nepo Babies and keen poached egg consumer some time next year on a PPV that appeals to absolutely nobody outside of this country.
I just remember his father trying his best to look like a hero in all of the interviews, but he always seems to get a free pass. He even gets off scot-free when it comes to neglecting his own child. The man is a disgrace and raging narcissist.
