I'm not sure what to make of it now, at the time I was disgusted with Spike and his corner for the way they just folded.

Spike was never dropped, never cut, his eyes were fine (no swelling or vision problems) and in is interview the attitude seemed to be "I wasn't winning so I quit".

But he was taking so many clean shots and the longer it was going the more he seemed to want to defend himself rather than attack, his focus completely shifted to survival.

Quitting in boxing is almost the ultimate sin, people seem to be able to forgive somebody getting knocked out but they can't seem to forgive somebody throwing in the towel when it gets tough.

Spike is going to have to live that now, after all the things he said over the past couple of years he looks ridiculous now.

Look m8 I aint a professional boxer and have took a beating of about 12 guys at the same time alot worse and i never stopped fighting back until they ****ed off. He was not even dropped, Buglioni took a worse beating and the same corner kept him in fight as he wanted to be in it. A man should never want to quit, he agreed with his corners decision as he wanted an out. Mouthing off for years, saying disgusting things about a man and his family and having no ***** when it comes to battle, embarrassing.

What a lot of ****, whilst he is in the ring throwing punches then he has a chance, he should be giving it his all to win a fight, He didn't because it obviously doesn't mean enough to him. All talk and not enough action. Spineless.

The problem is when we completely no longer buy in to the feuds between two boxers and see straight through it as panto, the fights not long have the intrigue and needle that it warrants with all the 'supposedly' bad blood. If you talk the talk, you MUST walk the walk or Boxing will become WWE and who wants to pay to see that !
