How do you rate Chris Eubank Jr. at SMW? Who do you think he beats? Who does he lose to? I think Ramirez gives him trouble with his height and reach.
For me it still early days, as he's improving with every fight... I have a feeling hes on his way to being the best at 168lb ! Pure proof of where dedication and hard work can get you ! I'm starting to think also that his dad is seriously instrumental in his sons progress, even though hes a painful vagina !
Much better than he was at MW, for many reasons. Foremost being he's simply better and more developed as a fighter now than he was 12-18 months ago. Another reason is the general talent level at 168 is lower than 160, there's no Golovkin or Canelo there so Eubank has a higher chance of rising to the top. A big thing to also consider is the head to head strengths and weaknesses of various fighters at 168; Ramirez, Groves and DeGale all hold belts and all have question marks over their stamina and conditioning that Eubank can certainly exploit. So that's three scalps against three very beatable title holders, two of which would also produce lucrative domestic dust ups.
He's only fought punch bags so far so we'll see how far he can go after the groves fight. Unless cox pulls off a surprise win that is
I am a big Jr no doubt From a purely physical aspect I think Jr is a natural 168lber. He has only ever made 160 7x in 27 fights!!! In fact almost every time he made 160 he missed weight first pop and had to do a 2nd weigh in. Jr was a huge 160lber but I believe he was struggling to get down. He probably gains a bit physically not having to drain but he now has to fight much bigger guys. 160-168 is a reasonable jump. Comparatively he loses strength and power moving up from 160 to 168 but his greatest assets of speed and work rate are even more pronounced @ the higher weight.
Never been a fan and always thought he was overated, what i saw was a bit of posturing, some flashy shots but once it came to the nuts and bolts of fighting he was actually pretty basic with a poor defence. Looks great against below par opposition but I have been waiting for him to step in with quality so he could be exposed. Had to eat my words as far as my prediction in the Billy Joe Saunders fight went, expected a horrible night for Eubanks and his fans but he was competitive against a very high level fighter and with his fantastic conditioning (something else i didnt think he had) he very nearly won that. Every time i see him he gets better and better. I dont know if Yildrims chin is meant to be good bad or Khan but Eubank hurt him straight away, and handled him, i know its only Yildrim but Eubank looks like 168 isnt a push for him it looks natural, this will be his settled weight for a few years now. Im actually looking forward to watching him again i think it is time to accept my views on him were pretty damn wrong. Dont think he can rule a division but he is very much in the mix and will be competitive against any of them.
He understandably seems to be improving but I would probably still pick Groves, deGale and Ramirez over him but he has a legitimate chance against them. His fights are entertaining. Looking forward to hopefully seeing him fight the top guys in the division.
DeGale ALWAYS has 4 or 5 lazy rounds in him. You could argue it's just him mentally switching off and coasting but he even said himself after the Jack fight that a deviated septum has been causing him long term breathing and stamina issues. He's since had that operated on and corrected but until I see him fight for 12 rounds without taking any off I will continue to question his endurance.
