He did indeed take a nasty blow from the elbow, it honestly may well have influenced the outcome of the fight, but it IMO wasn't nearly blatant/obviously deliberate enough to merit any kind of appeal.

The left uppercut put his lights out.

He goes to throw a left hook and is partially blocked by Eubank's right hand/glove...I think Liam's forearm does catch the side of his head. 100% unintentional either way.

There may have been contact but it no way deliberate and the uppercut was the beginnging of the end.
1 thing I will say should the ref haven given Eubank a count before the finishing sequence. I thought Eubank might have not touched down a little earlier in the sequence? If the ref counts at that point maybe Jnr gets out of the round but Smith looked more comfortable in there for me and looked be making Eubank move a lot more than we are used to seeing.

Be fair guys. Eubank was hurt by an elbow. He has the right to be bitter about that kind of loss.

If the elbow is what caused Eubank to be stunned it should be overturned tbh. But I haven't looked that deeply into it.

 Smith made his legs dip dramatically and almost dropped him with the first right hand which is being completely ignored by the elbowgate squad as is the fact he looked OK after getting caught with the elbow and it was the huge left uppercut which hurt him badly and then Smith caught him with a vicious left hook that he didn't see coming at all.

First it was weightgate, now it's elbowgate

“When I fight at 160, the maximum I put on is five pounds.''

''Why did you make the decision to move down to middleweight for this fight? In what ways are you stronger at 160-pounds?

"I’ve never been a real super middleweight. I walk around at 170 pounds out of competition and have to eat breakfast the day of my weigh-ins to make 168. I believe at 160 I am going to be a beast now that I have become accustomed to fighting much bigger fighters over the last three years."

''I’m not a true super-middleweight so I’m excited to be fighting at 160-pounds. I’m going to be a beast. I’m going to be an absolute savage. The power and the speed is going to really shine through against guys my own size. Anyone with a belt in the middleweight division, I’m coming for them. If that means Charlo, I’ll be more than happy to get in there with him.''

“I am a natural middleweight and if there are opportunities there then I will take them.”

He said he was fighting opponents who were 20-30lbs heavier than him up at 168. That was his excuse for losing at that weight even though it's not true. George Groves is a big SMW but he used to come in about 184lbs. Is that a lot heavier than CEJ? For sure but it's not 20lbs, let alone 30lbs.

So the reason he lost up at SMW is because he's a natural MW who had to eat up the day of the fight to make 168 and he was much smaller than the guys at that weight

And the reason he lost at MW is because he was drained to death by making the weight

You can't have it both ways

Lima Smith weighed 172 against Munguia at LMW

That's more than CEJ said he weighed when he campaigned at SMW

It wasnt an intentional MMA type elbow, it was Smith putting a little too much torque on the punch and the elbow landed after he missed the hook it appears. I like CEJ but now its just sour grapes, the other punches that landed were flush shots and were the ones that ultimately put him down. The win should stand.

I don’t think you are understanding the rules of Boxing. If for example I stun you with a punch and then follow with an illegal blow, then carry on landing legal shots … that’s against the rules of boxing.

Like I said, not a fan of either and don’t care about the result but you should probably re-evaluate your opinion on what is considered against the rules of Boxing.

Liam Smith is a delusional ****, i just watched an interview and he acted like there wasn't even an elbow landed.

The elbow is the third fist, it has gone on for decades, the difficulty is proving it was deliberate, hence protect yourself at all times. Jnr raised this concern in the gloves are off so he should have practiced and prepared for it and get over it. it is a fight ffs.

I'm not complaining about it. The result won't be overturned because it was not intentional. I'm just saying don't pretend like the elbow didn't affect the outcome. It's hard for folks to be honest around here.

Yes I saw one video on youtube where the guy says "misses" as Eubank takes the right hand and is almost knocked down from it, drops down about 2ft to a ball in the corner under Smith's waist level https://youtu.be/qvPOovQjV-0?t=150

That is just it, was it intentional though, you say not but nobody knows and the result should not under any circumstances be overturned because of it. Take a look at Mike Tysons fights and the use of the elbow, he perfected it until he got too obvious with it...
