Eubank Jr is going to knock Saunders out

Hey Len,

How are things on the Emerald Isle? All logic says BJS but I'm gonna have to go with Jr. I feel he has more in his locker and we'll be seeing this in this fight.

As for the fight - Im gonna go with "all logic" on this one.
I cant see - (unless someone can explain it to me) how Eubanks approach of fighting only in 10-15 second bursts is gonna win him 3-minute rounds.

If BJS just glides around shoe-shining as he does (as per the GaryO'Sullivan fight) I cant see junior beating him.

Unless Eubank gets under his skin and rattles him making him fight the wrong fight Joe should win this handily IMO.

Will be getting my ticket for this on Saturday, good fight that will generate a good bit of hype.

12 months ago, the thought of this match up would have me thinking BJS wipes the floor with him - now though, I'm really torn.

BJS has experience of going the 12 rounds, he's fought a higher level against better opponents and he's a big talent... that would usually point to him being the man who should be getting his hand raised.

Eubank Jr, he hasn't fought at the level BJS has on a competitive level, but what gets me is the amount of people in the know that are saying just how good he is. He might not have been in with the likes of a John Ryder, but he's been doing what his old man done at a similar stage in his career... getting top class sparring.

If Groves and Froch bring you in as a main source of sparring in the lead up to high profile fights, you aren't a mug. You cannot buy the sort of experience that brings... which is why the other scenario could be that this fight is his coming out parade.

 

Something just tells me Jr. is going to up his game and surprise us all. Not fussed either way though. Just hope for a fair conclusion.

Eubank Jr will win.

This sort of fight happens in the career of all perceived arrogant but talented fighters. They fight the token 'humble' guy - in this case Saunders - and everyone backs the humble guy to teach the upstart a lesson.

We all know what happens.

I honestly think the only reason so many of us are backing Eubank is the fact that he's confident enough to have taken the fight. Is there anything in his opposition to date or style in beating them that says he beats an experienced champion? But of course it's possible he has another level and Billy gets made to look a fool after all the "He's rubbish/I'll smash him to pieces" jibes. I really hope not!

 

I agree he hasn't beaten anyone really but he looks a class act and I think he will turn it up a few gears against Saunders. Alot are going for Eubank which contradicts what I'm saying a bit but you just know there will a load of people picking against Eubank simply because he's untested and also because he's so dislikeable. McCrory is the typical sort of ex-fighter that would go against Eubank simply because he rubs him up the wrong way.

Yes but are you perhaps reading too much into it, that he took this fight?

Maybe the Eubanks have simply made a mistake here?

What do the managers of all prospects fear most ? A puncher.
What is BJS NOT? A puncher!
Perhaps they just loked at BJS as being a weak puncher and therefore "safe".
Without fully considering his OTHER strengths? Perhaps they miscalculated?

 

Not sure about miscalculating.......but a very dangerous fight. Others have pointed out that BJS throws good 'punches-in-bunches' and that coupled with a high volume can be very difficult for a technician to look good against.

I personally think all this talk of non-punchers and 'Floyd influenced' skills is pish and will go out of the window entirely once the bell sounds. This one's gonna be Bombs Awaaaaay and I think that'll favour Eubank although he does throw wide shots.....

Modern British classic in the making, the only bet I would put on this is that it doesn't go 12.

 

A year ago most agree BJS had too much, but I still don't understand how anyone sees it any other way today. I've yet to see Jr. with a live opponent

Worse ...I've yet to see him sustain three minutes of action against a dead one!

 

i think it wil be harder for billy joe than he reckons but he wil get the win i believe.
