Truax can actually hit like a mule, compare how Adonis Stevenson and Truax both took out Don George. If Eubank doesn't move his head and fight intelligently, there's a very real chance he could find himself in danger against Truax as well.

Truax isn't an intelligent, skilled fighter... but he's rough, with a good work rate, a good punch, works the body and is solid inside with stamina to throw hard for the duration of a fight. Really not a bad combination of attributes for a B-Level fighter.

Kovalev outboxes the best boxer on the planet and gets robbed, goes through the most hellish negotiations possible against a guy he beat who was still acting like the A-side, had everything imaginable going against him, he had to take on the ref, the judges, the boxing commission, and his own goddamn traitor... oh I meant trainer. Then in the rematch that he clearly was inadequately trained for, still managed to be in the lead on many people's cards when he was violently hit in the balls repeatedly and robbed by Weeks with a bull**** stoppage, instead of being given time to recover from an illegal blow. Quite frankly, he had nothing to be ashamed of in the least.

What did Kovalev do? How did he deal with that loss? He hung his head in shame, went on a downward spiral into depression and ended up going on basically a vision quest in Greece to find himself again and reevaluate his future in the sport, and sort his life out on a personal and professional level and came back renewed and reinvigorated like a beast.

Now contrast that with Eubank Jr.

He brags for months about what a boss he is, how he's going to retire Groves, Groves has no idea what ferocity awaits him in the ring, and that he's not only going to beat Groves, but put on a masterclass, embarrass Groves and basically send him home in a body bag.

He puts on one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a supposed A-level, which of course I knew was bull****, literally embarrassed himself swinging like a wild caveman, sadly most cavemen were probably more accurate, after all they had to take out while animals with rudimentary poorly crafted by hand weapons. He looked like an amateur, no wait, that would be embarrassing to most amateurs, many decent amateurs would have done a better job than that. He looked like a soft in the head lost puppy dog yesterday, completely clueless, got his ears boxed off, in a humiliating performance. That was the boxing equivalent of a nerd with a tiny pecker being stripped nude and being locked into a cafeteria full of laughing schoolgirls.

And how does this mother****er deal with it, after letting his legions of deranged fanboys who clearly DKSAB down, he without shame, doesn't call out Benavidez, doesn't call out Zurdo, he calls out a titlist that was a cherry pick gone wrong, head and shoulders the weakest titlist in the division, in a clear as day mortifyingly obvious cherry pick on his part. I might add a shot based on that performance, he'll need to rebuild his entire career after, he does NOT deserve. No personal growth to be found, no feeling of humiliation, no introspection. Just more of the same, and in the process hopefully he showed the world what a pathetic devoid of class and dignity repulsive vile steaming pile of crap he truly is.

Let me have a wild guess. You don't like CEJ.

yep--i saw what looked like two clear KDs by Groves--the one you referred to above and another in rd 10, both ignored by the referee

I will go out on a limb and say that Eubank Jr trying to blatantly cherry pick a soft title fight while horrifically cut and visibly battered in the post fight interview, calling out said fighter before the bleeding on his face has even stopped... What a sham. A true product of the modern age, especially in regards to the sheer hype some athletically talented fighters always garner. Nothing of substance.

    well said

and i think the contrast between Kovalev and Eubank Jr is even wider, ie, while Kovalev had to deal fight Ward, the ref, and the judges--as you mentioned--pretty clearly the judges and ref were prepared to bend over backwards to give Eubank the fight.

the evidence: compare the actual judges cards (which were pretty damn close) with the four or unofficial scores from knowledgeable boxing writers, fighters in attendance, etc. (which seemed to center around 10-2 or 9-3 to be generous); what's more, i saw what looked like two KDs in that fight that were ignored by the ref

I think his Dads best work was when he hid all the pens from Jnr...imagine the ensuing carnage...

Not a good move or look for Eubank. Get back down to 160 and build back up again.... challenge for a legit title early 2019 or so.

Yep, he simply HAS to go back to 160. He's not good enough to be fighting bigger guys at 168.

But not only that, he HAS to make big changes. His dad may have been in 19 world title fights or whatever it was, but I am highly sceptical about his coaching abilities. I actually like listening to Eubank Sr talk, but it is clear he is completely deluded, I don't think even he knows what he is saying half the time, he just talks non-stop BS trying to sound profound. As I say I do like him, I think he is entertaining, but Jr needs an experienced coach who can put him out of his comfort zone.

In soccer the best players often make terrible coaches, that's gotta be true in boxing too sometimes.

Keep his dad on as a publicist by all means, but if he doesn't shake up his team around him then the same thing will keep on happening over and over again.

I actually don't think it is a bad thing him calling out Truax.

I used to play a lot of sports and whenever I lost, especially in individual sports, I'd want a rematch, another game, straight away, didn't matter if it was a casual game or competitive, I'd never admit I was beaten.

Shows he still has drive, nothing wrong with that, he's just gotta funnel it in the right direction now, and make some changes.

I mean he can't exactly call out GGG after that performance.

CEJ beats Truax, hot-potatoes belt to Chunky, and we end up with Groves vs. DeGale II, seven years in the making, for all the marbles @ super middle. I dig it. :deal:

(well, half the marbles, with the other half consolidated across the pond in Mexico between Zurdo & Benavidez)

Well, for a start, Truax is a titlist they could tempt to the UK. It makes more sense than calling out the two latino titlists. It'd probably be a real war for TV, too.

    So heck, why not?
