Seems like nobody remembers the earliest days of RJJ and his unorthodox style lending itself to criticism about his lack of fundamentals. Apples and oranges??? Idk. Roy had all the fundamentals, but chose instead to use his insane athleticism to fight his unorthodox style, throwing fundamentals out the door. Maybe CEJ has the fundamentals and like Roy, just hasn't needed to incorporate them.
Truax hit the lottery when DeGale fought down to his level. JD could have followed the Jacobs blueprint and schooled him. CEJ is a better puncher than JD, has a way better chin, and flurries like nobody else in his class. GG would look like MAY against Truax. CEJ would have little trouble considering Truax can't box to save his life.
Gotta say impressed by Groves.. I really though he was going to lose and he looked dead at the weigh in Good work by Saint!
How embarrassing can you get,he even said he the plan now was to get the easiest path to a world title. Degale was stupid for not having the rematch clause but at least he was a genuine world champion and fought top class opponents.
If, upon his return -- which is a long way off -- Degale continues the extremely frustrating trait (and as I see it, deeply embedded bad habit) of retreating back to the ropes and staying there for big chunks of time in many rounds, then he probably can't avoid a firefight against Eubank or Truax or Gavril.
