Tragedy in what sense? Are you thinking of the Watson II (Eubank) and McClellan (Benn) bouts? The only tragedy I can think of in the Senior-Nigel rivalry was Benn getting stiffed in the rematch.
Benn is explosive and with the cw he might stand a chance here given the huge size disadvantage hes in. Im just hoping its a good fight.
Ah. I was referring to the two fights between Chris Senior and Nigel. If you ever want something riveting to watch, check these materials out; This content is protected This content is protected If you haven't seen their pair of bouts, watch the first fight before viewing The Best of Enemies and watch the rematch before viewing Clash of the Titans. A truly legendary rivalry.
This is what I'm thinking because despite being the boxing crackhead that I am, this fight doesn't interest me in the slightest. An unproven WW novice fighting a top 10ish SMW-MW at damn near JMW.............and for what reason? Not a belt in sight. These aren't two champs trying to make history, it's hubris, it's a cash grab because their fathers were rivals...........Hard pass for me, but hope the guys across the pond enjoy it.
Hearn is just glad that Eubank Jr isn't Gennady Golovkin. Think he might have nightmares during the fight from what happened to Kell Brook. I don't see what Connor Benn's motivation for this fight is in terms of his own career (not his dad's) because even if he stops Eubank Jr, is he going to start fighting at 160. Sounds stupid to win against a middleweight who used to fight at super middleweight to then go back down to welterweight.
They are living off of their fathers history, their epic battles. Eubank senior was a pugilist, a thinker and first class boxer. Benn senior was a true fighter, aggressive and very strong. The one thing the juniors are lacking is the incredible robustness their fathers possesded.
I'm across the pond, and I won't be bothering. I was a massive fans of their fathers but the boys don't have it.
