No way he fights someone like Jacobs. He won't even take on the likes of Murray. Fact is, does he need to take on anyone world class from a business point of view? He's an extension of a very profitable product, his dad. They come as a two. You don't get Punch without Judy. He could fight a domestic level fighter (again) and the interest would still be there. He's a showman who looks at his best beating up on average opponents and the casual fans young and old lap it up.
Unless we're talking about Gary Jacobs coming out of retirement, Eubank Junior isn't fighting Jacobs.
Jacobs for me, especially based on the last performance. He can box at a higher level than I anticipated and carries genuine power.
Jacobs is a different level to Jr. Jr just isn't very good, which is why they have matched him so carefully.
Book it please! I'd love to see this match. I like Eubank Jr., but he needs to fight a good international fighter to show he is the real deal. I'd favor Jacobs as almost everybody, but Eubank is not without a chance
I agree, it is clearly just a glorified number one contender's role, but given that the Saunders fight was a final eliminator for a world title shot, why is one ok to take but not the other? Apart from which, since Chudinov and Spike (who were at least decent European level), he has basically fought easy wins over two guys who are domestic level and a guy who would be that at best if he was British. What has that done to prepare him for a fighter who has just lost a close one to one of the world's elite fighters and two fights before that blew out an unbeaten world champion in one round? I am genuinely interested in your thought process here as to me it looks like junior is in danger of becoming a cash cow placed in low risk fights on PPV and marketed as a potential great to casual idiots who don't know any better. If he genuinely wants to mix with guys of the quality of Golovkin and Jacobs, he needs to drop the joke belt, get back to 160 and have at least one fight against a genuine top contender like Ndam or Khurtsidze to prepare him.
Whatever you may think if Eubank he has an incredible level of fitness, work rate, very very athletic, great engine. That and a very solid chin....so I would seem .....can take a guy a long way. Obviously his peculiar lack of power is a concern, but for every opponent Eubank is a "never faced a guy like this before" opponent. So you never know.......
I'm in agreement with pretty much everyone saying it won't happen and jr won't go near him BUT I still think stylistically this would be a great slug fest while it lasts
