He need to be put in with someone of note. Eubank, Fielding even Ryder are probably good names to have as his first proper fight. Have to assess him then. He's spoken of very highly though

He is a good fighter cox so Eubank won't go near him that's 100% fact.

I'm glad you own up to thinking this bum is good so it can justify Jr fighting him.

The more people like you the better

Personally I think it's a great move Jr fighting him

    1) He has a pretty record, and was once in line for an eliminator so that makes him legit these days. Martin Murray was the same when he got his first big fight

    2) He has a big mouth and can talk smack, add Hearn and obviously the Eubanks and the build up would be gold.
Cox is a pretty boy with an entertaining style too.

    3) Cox has a bad boy image but beating women is cowardly, Jr will kill this bloke and beat him within an inch of his life and people will love Jr for taking out the trash.

    4) Hearn and Warren have both raved about him so neither can say this fight isn't legit and as Cox will get paid by Hearn (I don't believe Hearn would actually go through with it so that's where the fight will stall) that's more in the pot for Jr.

In some ways this fight is similar to AJ vs Whyte, and that was gold. The only difference being Cox has no chance but it still will build interest. Jr beating the stuffing out of an avoided beast should land him Degale next IMO

First of all to the comment of cox being a woman beater, he was acquitted of that, charged with F all, so that's wrong.

Re comments about cox being a bum. Disagree completely, cox has shown, albeit against limited opposition that he can box as well as fight, he is definitely a fighting man that's for sure.

Time is ticking for him a bit, and his personal issues outside the ring haven't helped him one bit, but cox is by no means a bum, and I think he will prove this in the coming months. People taking about Eubank Jnr like he is some sort of world beater.

Let cox shake off a bit of ring rust and I'd pick him to beat CEJ comfortably . Jnrs no tactician, he is a crude fighter with awkward foot placement, sometimes very bad timing, and generally not a very good boxer. Not even a powerful puncher it's just when he gets his chances he is vicious in his shot selection and accumulation of punches is always bad.

Cox has a hell of a temper, no doubt CEJ could wind him up a lot which would affect the fight for sure , Rios was talking to Cox and he was like a madman in the fight.

A fight between CEJ & Cox would 100% turn into a dogfight and a dogfight I'm picking Cox to win, he is the better boxer and better fighter

Was going to mention this but you beat me to it mate. He was acquitted of the charges so not sure why James5000 keeps calling him a woman beater?

On another thread we were comparing the careers of Eubank Jn and Murray and he referred to Murray has an 'ex-con'. Which is true, but irrelevant I thought.

Eubank Jr is all talk with little substance. He has a track record of pulling out of and avoiding challenging fights.

I can't support someone who treats his own fans with such disdain.

    silly isn't it mate

Boxing is rough & a tough sport, therefore it has attracted characters with all kinds of pasts since it first began

But, as you say, it's irrelevant to bring it up when the only discussion is about boxer vs boxer

Agree with yesihavearms post aswell . Cox is a high risk low reward fight, Jnr has denied even knowing who Cox is , course he knows who Cox is, he just doesn't want to get iced .

I know there are plenty of people that believe in Cox and they are boxing people too, this clearly means he ain't a total no hoper but my money says CEJ is a totally different class.

I don't care if he was acquitted we all know he bashed up the stripper, the guy had the financial backing to get off, CEJ needs to make sure this coward never lays a finger on a woman again.

I totally disagree that this fight is high risk low reward. I think this would sell well and I also think Jr pummels him easily. IMO it is as easy as printing money for Jr.

Why wouldn't this fight sell? Most fans don't care about seeing high class boxing chess matches. Most fans want to see a dog fight, they want to see big names and they want a story line.

This fight should supply all 3, Cox isn't a big name but he has name recognition from winning gold at the Commonwealth games and bashing a stripper. Jr is a big name. The story line is set as Hearn and Cox are already mouthing off that Jr is running scared from this stripper beating beast (coward). Cox has pretty boy looks and a couple of decent ko's against euro bus drivers, (we will all forget about that African bloke that beat him up and he had to rob to win).

Cox will be a chihuahua in a fight with a pit bull, he will buckle as soon as Jr jumps on him and we will all wonder why we bought in to the fight.

Fact is Cox being a bit of an unknown in boxing terms is a bonus, he could be the next big thing so that should sell. He has a pretty record for sure.

thats your opinion and my money says Cox would deal with Jnr. Also re woman beater comments, whatever you believe to be true or untrue it is completely irrelevant in a Cox vs CEJ discussion. I am completely against woman beating, think it's tramps carry on, but all that could be proved was a few texts. Monzon done and was known to do far far worse than Cox back in the day, he was a nightmare outside the ring, so boxings always had its chequered characters

Re Boxrec comments, I would hardly say saying that Cox would dispatch of fielding and muller CEJ and that he is a good signing for Hearn is being a cheerleader, LoL, just an indication that I rate someone .

Seems the only person with an agenda is you, the way you are carrying on about cox's personal life. And I never did say the fight wouldlnt sell? CEJ v Cox would sell well ! I said Cox has been high risk low reward, FW done little for his profile but the fights he was in while with him were enough to put people off

Jnr being one of them people in my opinion. I don't know where you got me saying that Cox is high risk low reward due to his current profile , means that him vs Eubank wouldlnt sell ? The fight would do very well many many people would watch it .

Cox record ain't up to much as it stands no, his resume isn't a strong one, and I don't really go much on sparring stories as they can always be exaggerated but Cox has apparently given people like degale nightmares and many have said this.

I don't think Cox would wonder why he signed to fight Eubank at all , I think if they fought Cox would put another nail into the coffin of the Eubank hype train, which so far him and his father are already doing by avoiding anyone with a pulse. People moan about billyjoe, but imo from where I'm standing Jnr isn't doing anything of note either? Completely lost his bottle when the GGG fight was all but signed

I think in a gruelling, untidy, fight, that Cox would make more difficult for himself due to his temper, he would overcome Eubank, Jnr sees himself as the bully of the ring, the man, Cox would be all over him like a cheap suit from the opener, and while this would certainly suit Jnr and his style of fighting, I think he'd he beaten at his own game

Sorry I must have confused you with someone that said this clown cleans up the whole of 168, ffs he has no chance against any big dogs at 168

I have been watching quite a few of his fights and I don't know how anyone can come to the conclusion he has a shot against Jr, but I do enjoy hearing stories about how he does it.

Cox has already been exposed but Frank managed to some how defy all odds and get him the W to keep his record looking pretty. This is great news for CEJ as beating a guy that is 21-0 and said to be an animal will look nice on his CV.

How can you say it might sell well but its still low reward if Cox gets 0%?. Simple math suggests if this does 25% of the buys that Jr vs Degale fight would do then Jr is cracking it. Jr might get 40% if he's very lucky against Degale, Jr is the one chasing Degale so he will surely have to concede to make the fight.

I might be optimistic but I think Jr vs Cox would do decent numbers, if it did 200k buys and Jr got all the loot then that's at minimum the same numbers Jr would get vs Degale if they did 500k buys. (Both numbers are optimistic I know but just an example)

If Hearn was true to his word (he's a BS artist snake that would have options or something to make it worthwhile for him) then Cox fights for free it would absolutely be rude not to take the offer. You don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Cox is cheap and easy, Jr can't have better options then that surely as every big fight is basically taken.
The slightly smaller fights will cost too much and will be much harder.

Cox is high reward, great money and publicity and practically zero risk.

Obodai Sai isn't good enough to hold Jr's spit bucket and he took Cox best and gave him 10x worse. Cox was fouling the life out of the bloke and he still came on strong against him in the later rounds. Jr is one of the best conditioned fighters you will ever see, how is Cox going to win a war against him unless its a war like Hagler vs Hearns for a couple of rounds? Jr's much quicker and much stronger than Cox and will punch his dome like a pinata.

Cox proved in the Sai fight he doesn't have any guts and he is the bully fighter that can't handle pressure. He was getting his ass beat and was doing his best job to get DQ'd to save face. If he wasn't fouling so much he would have been stopped for sure.

Cox is easy to hit and an absolute sucker for an uppercut which is Jr's best punch. Jr will be the one bullying and Cox will be stopped before he has a chance to start fouling.

Please tell me with a straight face Obodai Sai isn't the best fighter Cox has fought?

saw him on a Warren card, boxnation end of last year against Fidel Rios. I think it was his first fight in over a year but if thats his level then Eubank Jr blasts him IMO.
He's an aggressive front foot fighter with sting behind his punches, plus he's a southpaw but CEJ has way too much on him if Cox last fight is anything to go by.
Smells of Hearn using Eubank's name to build up his profile.

Never really been that impressed with Cox, can't see him giving Jr any real trouble to be honest

I think Sr and Jr would want more evidence of Cox being domestic level before making this fight. The last thing they want is another fight like the BJS one.

No problem, but it proves that you have an agenda against Cox, as rather than ask me a question about what I said about Cox on BoxRec, you'd rather put it across as fact that I said what you thought was "he'd clear up at 168" and "oiky" isn't exactly a name that you can get mixed up on Boxrec or anywhere

What is there to suggest he doesn't have a shot at Jr? Do you believe Jnr is a world beater James? Jnr is a fighter, but he is by no means a decent boxer, he will always be left wanting and lacking in a lot of areas if he makes it to world level. You talk Cox down like he is the king of bowling over drunks in the local boozer, and keep mentioning records, where I have already told you as yet I agree that Cox's resume isn't by any means top notch, so keep talking about records is just bringing up stuff we already know, by doing it we are going around in circles.

And Re high risk low reward stuff you are still missing the point. Up until the Jr fight (If it happens) Cox has bin high risk and low reward, the Jnr fight would sell b/c the 2 would clearly develop needle very quickly and the animosity between the 2 would get people to watch it, plus the hype that surrounds the pair of them. Thats why it would sell, but due to the way Cox has dispatched of his albeit limited oppositon and the way he has looked in doing so, and the fact his profile isn't yet very big, that makes him an opponent that is on the high risk low reward list.

DOesn'tmean a fight with Jnr wouldln't sell, but thats due to the build up and how the 2 would come across during the build up. You could argue Jnrs record has been kept looking pretty aswell? WHats suggests it hasn't? Is this just you are pro Eubank and anti Cox therefore it is clouding your judgement? I don't like Eubank Jnr at all, but I'm not going to whinge about him on the internet and come across as bitter b/c in my opinion thats just pathetic.

Re the Sai fight, wasn't Cox's finest hour was it, we all know that but I find it comical you are rubbishing the record and the resume of Cox as if Jnr has been in competitive rumbles from the word go and always wanted to test himself. Pot kettle black, nothing could be further from the truth. You are basing an early fight in someones career as a gauge of how a bout between said fighter would do against Jnr, if you know boxing you know boxing doesn't always work like that.

People can come on leaps and bounds, Cox has a far better amateur pedigree than Jnr so fundamentally he is a better boxer than Jnr he just gets drawn into unnessecary things.

Nothing of note has been seen that suggests Cox would beat Jnr and nothing of note has been seen to suggest Jnr would beat Cox, but imo I think Cox would beat Jnr I think he would have alot more to him and he would be the better man, but with your hatred against Cox I'd hate to see your reactions if he got beat, I imagine you would shoot your bolt and scream to the rooftops, if Jnr beats Cox its just a simple fairplay from me.

But I don't think he would beat him

I haven't seen Cox fight for a couple of years and unless he's improved big time eubank jr would destroy him, cox was so easy to hit clean.
