Nah, I'm jk. I'll eat my crow. How the **** did Smith knock Eubank out though lol. Dude took Groves best shots, no way Smith hits harder than Groves.
LOL!!! I started cracking up when I first saw the thread title. I was like “Ohhhh hell no!!” Smith just hit the right button at the right time man. It’s weird how that happens but it does. Holyfield dropped Mercer for the first time in his career but there is no way he hit harder than Lewis or Morrison who hit Ray with their Sunday punches and couldn’t do the same. It happens!
I mean Duran took Hagler's best shots, then got annihilated by Hearns... I didnt see Eubank Jr's fight tonight but my theory is that sometimes, one boxer takes so much out of another that the other becomes easy pray for whoever is next. I mean the body does get injured from taking all those blows.
Yeah, Eubank being humiliated like that will never leave my mind. Reminds me of Maidana vs Broner in a way, but this may be even worse..
Way worse. Broner at least finished the fight, like you said CEJ got humiliated in front of the world to see.
I was 98% confident Eubank would win this. I've been saying for a long time how awful Eubank is but I didn't expect him to be knocked out by a not great 154 lb fighter he brought up to MW. Eubank is an even bigger joke than I previously thought.
Some truth in that i reckon. Think eubank started out his career at 163 back in 2011. Went up to fight at 168 around 2017. Came back down to 160 again for a few fights. Drained for benn. Then away back to 160 for smith in 2023. Its a big ask staying at that same weight for 12 years especially when your going back and forth weight classes. Looks to me like its not far from career over. He was terrible them last 6 rounds against williams. He needs to go up to 168. With that comes naturally stronger people negating the only strengths that made eubank anywhere relevant. Caught between weight classes at 33. Need to get them boys up in weight earlier in their careers to have any chance of transitioning. Get too greedy at the weight....then almost become too old to move up succesfully. We,ve seen eubank take much bigger punches from bigger punchers and bigger men. Probably find they actually need to go up two weight classes. Undoable at this stage. Happens to a lot of fighters around the age. Saying that tho he went in under the premise of not being particularly drained with an almost unbreakable chin...smith deserves big credit for his win.
Was going to comment during the fight that he looked very thin. I'm sure he understands know that draining down to 160 wasn't a good idea.
he's clearly a shot fighter. Legs are gone and never recovered from that punch. He looked like an old man out there
