Eubank on Benn's power AND CHIN

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by atberry, Mar 9, 2011.

  1. he lost much power when he moved to 168 , he wasnt even a big puncher at this weight , at 160 he was as powerful as anyone ever was

    agree.

he was an absolute beast at 160...albeit a beast that could be outboxed.

at 168 he relied more on his heart & his stamina & overwhelming opponents than his power.

Calzaghe would have beat Benn, I have little doubt about that but it would have been a fight until the end.

I cant believe the amount of ******ed biased ****s that are saying Benn would beat Calzaghe (mostly English Ive noticed ) pull your heads out of your asses & stop embarrassing yourselves because if you believe that nonsense you are better off following tennis or some other gay ****.

I see Benn landing a lot of counter rights, Calzaghe landing a lot of right jabs and 1-2s (after finding uppercuts, body shots and in-close hooks are too dangerous to be throwing)... Calzaghe was big and strong and sturdy. It's a difficult one.

Calzaghe would have been ruffled badly early on but he has this ability to adapt as the fight went on and maybe would have started to outbox Benn as would be slowly running out of ideas. As much as I love the dark destroyer, I think he loses by UD in this one.

I'm a fan of Benn, Eubank and Calzaghe but I'm sure I've heard Benn himself say that Joe would have beaten him. Could be wrong though, and either way Benn was a great fighter in his own right.

I have met Benn funnily enough I was in the airport with my pops and he was with his daughter he was flying back to Spain (where he was living at the time) and him and my dad were chatting away lol like they were old friends (they had never met before)

To be honest I always liked him as a fighter even though Eubank and Watson were above him in my opinion but I always thought he was a bit of an idiot. I was completely wrong he one of the nicest guys you could meet!

back to africa? i don't quite get the africa reference.... benn was from london and his parents were from barbados. i'm assuming the fact that your gunning for calzaghe and talking down benn that your opinion is somehow based on race

  15. when he was young yes , noone puts chris eubank ( one of the greatest chins a boxer ever had ) to the canvas without a bit of pop , but his power was nothing in comaparison with benns at 160
