I'm interested to know what the actual numbers are for this fight because whilst the claims from the Eubanks "that every household in the UK has ITV" maybe true (on the whole), not everyone has Virgin or a Sky Box which I understand was needed to purchase the fight.
But Eubank Sr said it would do 8mil???. And Hearn is no reliable source.. Besides, he's just guessing..
Now this all depends on how you are counting them and what ITV are giving back to people who said they had blue screen and problems ordering the event. Do we count PPV numbers/buys alone or do we get a figure that takes in to account the refunds they are now dishing out?
Was not going to buy it , on principal ,then they said Price v Hammer., Hammer 2/1 ........ might as well watch .... thats the way you do it ...money for nothing and ppv for free.
Obviously it was a BS fight to put on PPV but atvthe same time part of me would like to see them succeed with this model ( althoufh would have preferred it to ave been another fighter....frampton for example ) Because the the big promoters do not want any fighter and his management making successful careers without a big promotiobal backing because then others may try to follow suit However eubank snr still talks plenty of ****....but then again ao does eddie and frank
To judge the financial success, we would have to reduce the number of buys that have been refunded. This would mean that ITV took a massive bath on the event- even if it sold 50,000, because they would have only kept the money for around half of that judging by the feedback from people who paid for it and didnt see it (25,000)
I don't think the technical problems and rebates will sink ITV mate. If the idea was to prove the concept, see what worked, see whether it sold... then it seems it was a success. Now to sort the technical side.
You guys are seriously reaching trying to manipulate the numbers to satisfy your petty hate. Ffs just admit you were wrong, Jr is the fourth biggest name in the UK now only behind AJ, Khan and Haye. Will be no 2 soon. Get over it!
Let's not forget there were Facebook links and youtube links that attracted over 100k views and no doubt there were many more, millions would have watched so ITV could just up the advertismeets put them on between rounds like sky and make a killing. In the US some big time fights don't crack 1 million views on cable TV or even free tv
They couldn't have been good or ITV would have been far more vocal and no doubt so would the Eubanks. If this sold well then Sr and Jr would be ramming it down Hearns throat.
Damn that's actually quite shocking he got paid so little, he needs a better manager to negotiate his deals because that's not on.
