Eubank senior gets a bad rep but has anyone met him?

When I was a little boy, my mum and dad took me to see Father Christmas - being a cheeky little so and so, I pulled back his beard, and to my surprise, it was Chris Eubank! My dad was a big fan, so we invited him round for his tea - Spam fritters and chips. After our tea we all got drunk on whiskey and arm wrestled til the early hours ... I later found out he wrote the 80’s Stallone classic ‘over the top’. ... an all round triffick guy. Thanks for listening guys.

I once emailed him from his twitter site and he emailed me back about memories, grandparents, cans of fizzy drink amongst other stuff.

He even signed it off English.

I have a friend who bumped into him out in Dubai, of all places. It was a few years ago now. My friend said he had a great conversation with him and he will always remember him as a gent.
Tbh I love the guy. The trick with him is to not take him serious otherwise he can grate you.

 

I've seen him walking around London a few times. I tend to avoid him.
I've struck up conversations with boxers I recognize in the street on occasion but don't fancy getting into a conversation with that bloke.
And I was never a Eubank hater.

 

This thread has taught me that it's a miracle that Chris Eubank Sr ever gets to any appointment thanks to the thousands of boxing fans stopping him on the streets of London or indeed Dubai to chat.

We desperately, desperately need this man in the HOUSE OF LORDS NOW. Imagine the speeches!

 

I met him in the early 2000s. At the time I worked in Knightsbridge and as I was walking to my station I saw a massive American truck parked further up the road. I'd always been a big fan and had only read his autobiography recently. As I got to it I saw it was him and had a quick chat (the usual thing: big fan, read your book etc). He then reached into the truck, took out a big Luis Vitton wallet and gave me a signed photo, which I remember he was selling for about £15 on his website at the time.
As a young lad it had me buzzing!

I think with how he carries himself and the pure disdain he had for the ring girls after Jnr's fight, hes a wanker, a pure wanker...That one glimpse of the attitude towards them girls backed up any doubts I had

 

Very accurate and exactly my way with him..I liked him as a kid because he was disliked and I suppose I wanted him to do well to make up for it, but as a grown man I got tired of him years ago. A genuine nob

 

I actually like Eubank Sr, he does get a lot of criticism for saying things like how ''my son would wreck Golovkin'' and for being a bit of an eccentric weird guy. I actually really like him, not too big a fan of his son though.

Jnr was always set up to be scolded by people thanks to his dad

 

For what's it's worth snr makes me laugh,he's a character & totally off his head,I'm sure he'd be a nice enough chap in the flesh

He does my head in though with his involvement with his sons career & the nonsense he talks...

But aside from all that,he comes out of south London & prances about with that ridiculous put on accent,just a rough street kid out of dulwich,never known anybody from dulwich or peckham to emerge from those streets talking like that.....there's no need to talk like an aristocrat,imo a man should be proud of who he is,could never see the sense in lording it up with that accent,admittedly it's mostly the reason he makes me laugh,that accent & those long pauses,but you Can better yourself & move forward in life without talking like a lord & wearing a Monacle

 

John Bercow is the son of a cabbie, his entire recieved pronouciation posh accent is totally fabricated

 

A very entertaining fella but the choices he’s made as a father are absolutely abhorrent to me.
