Benn seemed to quit against Watson, too.

As well as the obvious heart he showed against McClellan, Benn was able to overcome adversity against Dewitt and Logan, and to a lesser extent against Barkley, Gimenez and Piper. I think overall you have to say he was a warrior in the ring, who generally gave everything he could and then some. He also had to overcome an extremely hostile atmosphere in the first Galvano fight, which took some balls.

The Watson fight was a bad experience, and if he did quit it was only when he realised that he was spent and was only going to lose the fight. By the time the Collins fights came around, Benn was clearly affected by what had happened with McClellan. It isn't unusual for previously brave fighters to go out with a whimper after that kind of ordeal (eg Gabe Ruelas against Azumah Nelson).

So he stayed on one knee because he knew he was going to lose anyway? Not the sign of a warrior.

Benn beat the count against Watson.

    "It was a Brit stoppage."

Nope, and getting off the canvas twice against the hardest puncher in boxing, fighting through the pain of a damaged jaw and busted kidneys is hardly the sign of a quitter.

It is what it is. Benn showed questionable heart at various points in his career, and ATG testicular fortitude in others. He was a complex and troubled character; this sometimes undermined what would normally be considered a huge fighting heart.

Benn seemed in a hypnotized state against McClellan, though.

Eubank says Calzaghe was not the best he fought.

Tell that to bailey... He rates Calzaghe's victory over Eubank as one of the greatest SMW wins ever.

He may just be giving his opinion, but do also bare in mind that Eubank HATED Benn!

    Feeling was mutual I believe.

Eubank is nothing but a british level boxer and only a B class compared to A and S class ATG like B-Hop, Jones and James Toney.

Any man who won a word title in MW fits in MW history somewhere! Come on!

I mean we count Busted Douglas as an undisputed HW champion right?

Wasn't Toney undefeated at MW? And Hopkins was IBF champ for a long time!

    Whatever!

I agree with the Toney comment and the Eubank comment also. But Chris Eubank was a self confessed bussiness man who restricted what he might of achieved in boxing.Basically put,he ducked all the top american fighters in his day.Shame.
