Where does he call today’s fighters pussies? Eubank lived a luxury flamboyant life like nobody ever had. He was trailblazing, flying. Why give that up fighting someone like Roy Jones when you don’t have to?
@Bulldog24 Explain this quote from what you posted.. ‘You aim for the best, you aim for the green WBC; the premiere belt. Unification fights, fighting unbeaten world champions in their own backyard, or attempting to do what is deemed impossible.’ How many title defences did Sr have? That's important, now after you've answered that.. How many unifications did Eubank Sr have? How many times did he fight for the WBC belt? Did he ever win a WBC belt? WTF is he talking about? The man is clearly rewriting history and his career. Shall we go on?
20 defences in 4 years certainly didn’t seem possible. He tried to unify with Jackson and Benn and face Jones at 175 all for WBC crowns. You can’t just click your fingers and have certain fights. They weren’t possible to make politically.
Nobody suggested it was easy to get unification fights, but don't say you only fought the best and most dangerous men in the world when you clearly didn't. That you aimed for the WBC title, the premier belt when you never even held it and fought for it just ONCE against Benn and got a rather generous draw. Benn fought McClellan, Eubank didn't. Hopkins and Toney fought RJJ, Eubank didn't. Watson fought Mike McCallum, Eubank didn't. Benn won and defended the WBC title, the premier belt, Robin Reid did, Richie Woodhall did, Carl Froch did, but Eubank didn't. Eubank is more confused than Scooby Doo, sure his name will forever be linked with Nigel Benn and he was fighting in that era but he didn't do what the others did but it's like he is taking large parts of others achievements and claiming them for his own. And to add insult to injury he having a pop at other fighters who CHOOSE to fight when and who they want.. exactly what he did while all the time calling himself a warrior and cut from a different cloth.
Yet Eubank beat Benn and Watson. He proved himself to be the man in the world of British boxing. He didn’t have to go chasing anyone.
I don't seem old enough why? because I don't just swallow a puff piece on Eubank Sr where he basically contradicts himself over and over again, makes claims that are simply not true and has imagined himself aiming for the WBC premier belt and fighting in more unification fights than the ONE he had... And that's the point, that WBC title fight Benn he had was the ONE AND ONLY unification fight he had in nearly 10 years as a pro and 52 fights, yet he claims he is a warrior who only fought the very best. Then criticising other fighters for not fighting for 18 months when his own son has fought ONCE IN TWO YEARS and lost his pen when it was time to fight who many considered the very best in Golovkin. I suppose this "fighting the very best" runs in the family, Oh or are you going to tell me that Jr is IBO champion and doesn't have to chase the very best abroad.. Shall we go on?
Jones and Hopkins were viewed by 100,000 in the US. That’s simply not a big stage when you consider Eubank was watched by 18,500,000 in England alone every month or two - he was a national institution! Come on get real. Hopkins I had never heard of and didn’t hold a title. They offered no money because they weren’t big stars - they weren’t Ray Leonard.
When G-man fought Benn their was on audience of 17 million viewers, yet G-man never drew numbers like that before that bout and was completely unknown to the British public.
