Eubank relied on it in the second Watson fight for sure and against Thornton, Holmes, Benn and Wharton in title defenses when they did get in the odd shot - most of the heaviest hitters out there... But Eubank's defense, generally, was very, very impressive - reflex-based slipping and reflex-based catching, and premeditated pull-backs/body-sways that always seemed to leave an opponent falling short.
Yeah, a personal friend of Rocky Maricano and Muhammad Ali, a man who was ringside commentator at every Ali, Monzon, Duran, Leonard world title fight, etc.
yes he had good speed reflexes. He was pretty sharp. But so annoyingly lazy in the ring! I recall he would frequently let his opponents just flail away at him, and then BANG return fire and hurt them BIGTIME. He must have been very aware that he couldnt be hurt by anyone with that defense and chin, which was why he had the luxury of letting rounds slip by. I always thought it would catch up with him one day. It actually made him quite exciting to watch, you'd think he was getting pounded out, but he'd turn around with that 'Roman emperor's' expression and then WHAM from nowhere I loved that!
Eubank is just angry Froch has accomplished more than him, even though Eubank had more skills, Froch out did him and will be remembered as a better SMW in the rankings than Eubank. Froch is a damn G.
If Mayweather is a *****, which is P4P#1 best fighter in the wold.....then what that say about all other fighters
Exactly what I was think, people are always trying to find flaws in Mayweather outstide the ring because they can't find any inside the ring.
oh c'mon like Floyd didn't grow up rough as well.... If Eubank got thrown in jail he would do everything he could to get out sooner like any normal human being would...... Sounds like he's mad that Carl has surpassed his accomplishments Eubank is a narcissistic attention *****, he can't stand being irrelevant. I love watching his fights but he toots his own horn at every possible opportunity and slags off nowadays fighters like his era was so much greater with those **** poor defenses. He's the new age Larry Holmes.
It's funny because Wharton wasn't as flat-footed in the amateurs and had some skills outside of marauding left hooks - nice bobs and rolls in perpetual motion, very nice combinations. He beat some Eastern Europeans, and knocked out Ray Close in 30 seconds at that level.
