He 'took his beating' in the first one in the closing rounds. The second one he didn't ship much, he was bigger and stronger after weight-training at the King Alfred since the first one and shoving Thompson off him. The fights weren't much alike. Thompson absorbed Eubank's shots bizarrely well in the second one, I think it was the speed that stunned him first time around. Nigel quit twice against Collins. That ruined his legacy in many eyes. Imagine if Eubank faked an ankle injury or winked at his corner against Calzaghe and didn't come out for the second round! He wouldn't be able to show his face
Why are there Jamaican names? I thought all Jamaican names were British because Britain took blacks to Jamaica as slaves and they took white name like slaves in America at that time just next door to the West Indian islands, my dad is Jamaican, his surname is Adams but his grandfather was an Indian indentured servant for the British in Jamaica, my granddad changed his surname to Adams because he became a police officer and under British rule Indians were frowned upon by Jamaicans. Is Ewbanks a creole influenced name then?
Cheers for those that have posted about the name, I grew up reading Eubank, pronouncing it like that and just being confused with how many people referred to him as "Eubanks", whenever I hear Frank Warren say it with his voice I want someone to correct him and tell him to stop it.
Clarendon is where Eubank's family originated and Ewbanks and Ewbank are known surnames in that region. https://www.ucl.ac.uk/lbs/person/view/2146641293 https://www.ucl.ac.uk/lbs/person/view/2146633926
