I answered a guy who said Eubank was better than Duran at 160 by pointing out how well Duran did v Barkley could Eubank Sr of the early 90`s have matched Duran`s display against Iran?
Barkley and Hill had totally opposite approaches to fighting Hearns. Barkley got inside and backed Hearns to the ropes repeadedly. He tested Hearn's faded legs. Hill stood on the outside the whole fight and tried to outjab Hearns. He applied very little pressure. Styles make fights.
Interesting matchup. I'm leaning towards Eubank but I think Barkley would make it really tough for him. Close and probably points but wouldn't be at all surprised if Barkley beat him.
Which is interesting because I think Virgil Hill easily beats Barkley. He could hit him with his best punch the counter left.
Yeah, but we're analyzing Barkley/Eubank not Eubank/Hearns. Barkley was very susceptible to durable good counter punchers. His defense was very leaky. See Toney fight. Toney was better than Eubank so it wouldn't be as one sided. Eubank on points.
He would have landed more counter lefts than Eubank would have, he threw that punch far more, I feel Barkley would have gave Eubank a rougher ride than Hill.
All Eubank. That great radar he had would not see him getting hit from the looping telegraphed shots from this guy. And he would counter Iran to death.
I'd give Eubank a good chance at stopping Barkley late. Chris would take his best shots, and beat Barkley s face up.
It would be like the second Watson fight, Eubank really struggled with that pace, like Hearns did in `92 v Iran.
