I see it both ways, y'know. This fight is one of the most conflicting I've ever seen. Everyone seems to have seen it differently. I think I gave Haye about... 3 rounds, if that? His head movement and such was good but he wasn't using it to effect. He was doing all this whilst on the ropes so he was giving up ground and he was throwing no counterpunches and while he avoided jabs better than most guys would've (Frazier would've ****ing ate Wladimir, no doubt about it) he wasn't getting anything off to equalise him, and when he tried he was just darting forward with horrible technique. There was a few people who said that he needed to get inside, and he should've done just that. I know he's slower, but that punch that Haye landed on Valuev was so sweet. He got right inside and threw a beautiful shot and it was spot on, where was that? I don't want to hear about the toe excuses, and I'm not going to make them, but if he were to get a rematch I think he could win if he didn't have such a stupid gameplan. He said before the fight he can't get in a jabbing or a boxing match with Klitschko, and he did just that. Fair play, he had a go. You'd be stupid to call him a coward, he tried but he didn't try his best as much as he says he did and he didn't leave it all on the line which you would figure considering the circumstances he would have to.

I give him more of a chance in a Vitali fight now, but I still see him getting beaten, potentially knocked out. Vitali hits a lot harder than Wladimir, I truly believe that. Yeah he's gotten older and he's not as good, but he's the better brother in terms of power and chin. He's more suited to being a fighter than Wlad is, whereas he's more an athlete in my eyes.

He has to pray Vitali ****ing hates his guts and wants to knock him out for the family. The insults may be a double edged sword. While it seems his words have made him put his foot in it and is ripe for mockery, but the fact that Wlad couldn't knock him out, Vitali would love a chance and that is David's only way back.

If he leaves now, that's fair enough, it's his choice. He has all the money in the world, but he will always be remembered for this loss and his failure to produce, and will not go down as a legitimate world heavyweight champion boxer. Pure and simple.

I thought he outboxed him too at times, though 'outboxed' is a very subjective term.

He definitely outboxed him at times but not for 5 rounds and I don't know how the toe issue can stick. He sure as hell pushed off it when he was lunging in and out. You need some serious weight/balance going through your feet to make up for Hayes wild punches and wild lunges.

 

He landed a couple of good shots here and there, nothing with any degree of continuity though

No. Just no. Haye never 'outboxed' Klitschko. Sure his reflexes were sharp and his defence and durability was better than I thought but Klitschko fought the entire 12 rounds at his own pace, only backing up when he decided to. How anyone can draw the conclusion that Haye outboxed him by 'bobbing and weaving' is mental.

I think the toe injury was a much bigger hindrance than a lot are saying but I still don't really see how he can beat Wlad. The only reason I saw that people were backing Haye seemed to be based on the myth that Wlad would fold straight away under. That's no way to call a fight accurately and Eubank is making the exact same mistake again by claiming he'd be dropped in a rematch.

Haye even fell into the same trap himself and rather than trying to get inside first, his only real gameplan seemed to consist of Wlad giving up under pressure. Which is strange because it goes completely against what Adam Booth has always said in that you have to 'imagine your opponent at his absolute best'.

 

Some people just can't admit they called a fight wrong.

Nah Haye was outboxed in every round. The main problem comes from the fact he was not dominated, just outboxed...Wlad did enough in each round.


Ive said this from the start though look back at my predications and my analysis. Haye had the talent to knockout both Klithsckos, but the doubts set in when he fought Valuev, Ruiz and Harrison. All these guys he fought he should have knocked out quicker but he didnt.

His low volume punches is the key as all his other work is gone if you dont throw.

Its like David Tua would be outboxed for round upon round because he would wait to long to throw after he ducked or slipped.

In a sense he was signing the silent contract doing just enough, but you have to force the fight more, throw every time you move your head or make the other guy miss. MORE MORE MORE...but it like when your running and the lactic acid builds, you stop but really you could go that extra yard.

I also dont think David wanted to get knocked out, his plan of throwing one or two punches then running back out is just not a good plan against a fighter like Wlad....you need to stick it to him, and push him off the back foot but then again maybe David dosent trust his chin and also it hard for a fighter to change when he was succesful against taller fighters employing his power pot shots.

I said the writing was on the wall for years...If Haye fought Wlad again he would lose again.
