Eubank was atrocious in this one, really looked poor. Though if you look closely, Sherry is just hitting gloves and arms like a girl and then back on his bike It's hard to see how Dan had all these amateur wins over Jeff Harding, Otis Grant, Richie Woodhall, Neville Brown etc with such zero ability to even punch or stand properly Apparently Sherry actually almost choked on his blood from mouth damage, believe it or not, and was passing out There was also talk of Sherry whispering racist remarks in Eubanks ears
Dan Sherry was rubbish. The WBO was a joke to have fighters like him in their rankings. Next up for Eubank was British-level light-middle Gary Stretch !
Stretch was a big name, pictured in the glossy mags dating all these models and daughters of celebs. But yeah, he wasn't very good really
I remember the Hype for the Sherry fight, and people kept on bringing Sugar Ray Leonards name in to it as he was some sort of trainer of sherrys, and how he thought he is going to be the next best thing since garlic bread!!
No idea what Sugar Ray was thinking saying Sherry was the best talent in boxing and the next dominant middleweight. Crazy talk. He was ordinary. Just spoiled. Also Freddie Roach bigged up Stretch, after he sparred with Virgil Hill and Marlon Starling for the Eubank fight. Saying there's no way Eubank can beat him. Weird.
Remember this when i was about 13 or so on ITV To my untrained eye i was shocked to think Sherry was doing ok (rewatched it a few months back when lock down started and was very wrong on that front) I remember a crap shuffle type goading of Eubank too The finish was atrocious and Eubank was quite lucky to not be cheated out of his belt He was poor that night and sgould have put Sherry away a lot sooner
