hey mate, you got the benn-eubank gladiator show they put out on channel 5 a few years back? benn was so ****ing thirsty for revenge it was unreal, he was hell bent on beating chris.
benn trained at my gym as an amateur, we have some great pics of him, i wish i could somehow put it up here.
I saw it. Despite Nigel having retired he was still ultra competitive in everything. If the 2 were taking a **** he's want to be the one that pissed a bit higher up the wall. Nice to see his ring personna wasnt a put on and was really like that.
On the gladiator program they nearly came to blows, didn't they? Remember them having to be held apart. That show was great.
Man i miss those days. British boxing was the bollocks then with those domestic rivalries, half the population watching them. Didn't care about what was going on across the pond we had great fighters and real rivalries. I first got into boxing as a kid in this period. Thread brings back so many memories.
Eubanks was a ****ing legend, simple as that! And his rivalry with Benn was classic, if only we het stuff like that in boxing today we'd be much better of.
What we need is a few more up and comming boxers with enough self belief and talent to play the pantomime villain like Chris did.
Usually when people talk about the old days it can all get a bit romantic. However, you're not wrong man, it was a brilliant time for British boxing and I miss those days too.
I thought Eubank was a genuinely good fighter, but as others have said his 2nd fight with Michael Watson changed him..He was the best thing in British Boxing at the time. Here's a quick Eubank special - with bonus posing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi1JwB0rQ_s
Eubank two words ****ing legend! Him, Benn and watson made boxing in the UK boom again a bit like our fighters such as hatton, JC, Haye and even witter are doing now.
