FFS, all boxing off in January due to covid.

They should just sod the board, get it licensed by some banana republic and hold it in Dubai or Saudi.

It could be a nice solution until we are back to normal.

I wanted DAZN / Eddie Hearn to arrange some boxing events in the US with U.K. boxers on the undercard and then start the events so it would fit with the times in relation to UK / Europe (just like when Liam Williams met Andrade).

The bbbofc are one of the most if not the most, unfit for purpose sporting bodies out there.

They're a bunch of old crooked tory voting men who should have all been 6ft under by now but instead are still lingering around the sport like a bad smell doing the square root of naff all to improve, modernise and grow the sport of boxing.

Is it worth doing it behind closed doors? I guess Williams would perform much better infront of Welsh fans but it's just dragging on.

The whole selling point of this fight for me was Williams fighting in Cardiff with a large crowd of Welsh people cheering him on against the rather unlikeable son of "English", take that element away and I have no interest in it, such a key ingredient to the fight is the venue and those in attendance.

There's no point it makes no difference at all, the winner gets beat at the next level on a different platform. Williams/Eubank Jr, Brook/Khan, you could delay them for years and it won't mean jack. Just hope Arum has some US backup to get Taylor/Catterall out the way

Eubank will be on a fair wedge so you’d expect this to have take place in front of fans.

Chris Whiitty and cronies become Sirs yet the UK has one of the worst Covid death rates in the world, these fooks have remained silent when govt policy required them to be silent and we are on the fringes of another lockdown yet again.

No boxing in Jan and a complete shambles from the start of Covid to date.

The U.K. has been under 200 deaths with Covid per day since March 2021 consistently. That is not at all material according to the metrics the government is using. An average of 1,700 deaths are recorded in the U.K. of all causes.

A new strain which is super contagious but super weak is now giving everyone natural herd immunity. Problem?

So why is boxing off in January?

It’s like the authorities have taken a knee jerk reaction 4 weeks ago, based on Ferguson predicting 6,000 deaths per day with Covid. No prizes for guessing whether shaggers predictions came true or not.

Most of this post is nonsense.
The reason boxing is being postponed is to protect medical staff for other uses, same as when shows were limited to a smaller number of bouts in 2020-21 initially.

No other sport has a hard dependency on ambulance staff and access to critical care as part of its licensing, and those things are in demand or constrained just now. Don’t know why that’s so hard to understand or so readily translated into some conspiracy.

Did you look at the average deaths with Covid per day for the last 12 months?

It would only take you 60 seconds.

But naw, that’s a conspiracy. It’s a conspiracy now to divulge government statistics.

I would prefer if you spent the wasted time typing a reply to me, to look up the government statistics.

There is only one metric that actually counts: deaths with Covid.

Access to medical staff is constrained every winter. The Guardian has run that headline every year since 2010 that the NHS has collapsed. Did we cancel boxing events for the last 10 years before Covid existed? Erm….

Yes but staff could go to work with other minor illnesses. With COVID, whether symptomless or not, they are required to isolate.

My personal view is OMICRON should be treated differently if the evidence suggests symptoms are no worse than a mild cold but that would require more sophisticated testing.
