Eubanks Jr's "Power" = Not Much Better Than Average

When I used to point out that Eubank was a non puncher in his early fights I used to get attacked from all angles for saying it. But time has proven me right.

 

Quinlan literally hasn't a mark on him.

It's actually quite amazing how come Eubank has so little power. It's now like he doesn't try in there. Has he ever 10-counted a live body ...even once?

 

He's average across the board. Now he's alright with an exciting style but he's nowhere near as good as he thinks he is an arrogant tosser to boot.

 

I wouldn't even say his power is as good as average. He's got good workrate and good accuracy. I'm sure he'll be in some entertaining fights, but a lot of world level fighters are going to walk straight through him.

 

There's no question that his KO % gives a false impression of his power. I think average power is about right

 

He is a speedy, sharp, often accurate volume puncher who is very hard to beat. But he us NOT a hard puncher. I am a fan, I think he is very good in many ways, but power??? No way!

 

Kind of disagree. I think eubanks has good power. Not one punch knockout power. But he wears you down with it. But so do most of them. Think hes stopped everyone bar chudinov in his last 13 fights excluding bjs. And the chudinov should have been stopped. That quinlan looked a proper super middle in their last nite...still wore him down.

I dont think many that go in the ring with eubank will come out the same. Some of them punches look spiteful. Can see him meeting his match though but if i was degale. Or groves i d probably stay away from him if i could. They d probably both beat him but hes a bit of a wild card for me atm. I genuinely think he ll look better against better competition.

 

The ref stopped it in the twelfth against Chudinov. You're right though, it should have been stopped much much earlier. Thing is, because Chudinov was occasionally landing on him the ref let it go on far longer.

 

Calzaghe or Froch didn't really have a lot of power either and DeGale doesn't too but all three were/are world champs. So power doesn't mean you can't be at the top of your game. GGG has power and that's probably why he's hailed as the best out there in my opinion.

 

Just curious...whats the difference between "good" and "decent"? I think they were the same thing...??

I think thats a bit silly. Guys got 13 ko,s in his last 13 fights barring bjs. Stopped guys that have never been stopped. Had them down. Had guys wobbled numerous times. Unfortunately put a guy in a coma. People that say he has below average power are letting bias get into it for me. Hes a powerful accumulative puncher.

Who are we comparing him to. Even guys like golovkin are going 5/6/7/10 rounds with guys. Hes not one punching guys out every fight himself. No ones claiming his powers anything other than the goods. Guys like groves...who,s thought of as having good powers the same. Their mostly getting guys out of there with accumulation. If people want to say his powers not killer power fair enough. But to start saying he has below average power isnt really the truth.

I actually think the dad has a point...when he said its dangerous for the level of opponent that their currently fighting atm against eubank junior. He wont one punch you out but his accumulation power...is dangerous. Them punches he throws are damaging shots. The problem it looks to me is they ve neglected the boxing fundamentals with him in favour of trying to steamroll people with his accumulation power.

Hes ready to step it up but the higher up he goes the more the opponents will expose his lack of fundamentals. Kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. Think the kid will grow into it.

Could go either way tho.

 

Ah. Remember it now mate. Thats what i was getting mixed up with. That he let it go on far too long.

 

He will give anyone at Middleweight and Suoer Niddjeweight at lest quiet a hard fight as he is relentless for two minutes of each round and throws a lot of accurate punches. Is he heavy handed No, is he hard to hit No, does he have great footwork No so unless he improves in some of these areas the top guys especially at 168 will beat him. Is a good fighter though and is good to watch but is either deluded or an oscar winning actor as he believes he's a legit world champion whilst DeGale is a belt holder lol (Yes the holder of a genuine World title whilst he is not).
