Since Golovkin's success, we've seen talented Eurasian boxers go pro one by one. Bivol is also from Kyrgyzstan, and there are some outstanding Uzbek boxers and fighters like Janibek who are now making successful careers. But are these fighters as good as we think they are? Or is it more of a mirage?
Both. Some of them are very flashy and speedy without as much substance as their style lets on (think Bek and Madrimov), while others are largely ignored because they're so skilled and dominant (think Bivol and Janibek). This happens any time a new type of boxer breaks through and dominates the scene. People thought there would be more giant killers with Slavic names following the K-bros, then Dimitrenko sobered them up. You could make the same thread about American welterweights post-Floyd.
