Everyone arguing over who is the best america or europe etc has completely missed the point of thread.
Europe is obviously producing more good boxers than USA and has the world titles to prove it. However, North America is a stronger continent than Europe at producing good boxers.
Anyone suggesting Either Mexico or USA arent the strongest boxing nations are being rather silly.

The point of this thread is why can an American can just fight other americans with poor records and never face any top european opposition and be considered great, but a european can beat the best from their entire continent, not just their own country and have their records dismissed as worthless.
Consider Toney and RJJ super middleweight records, they are often considered by many to be the top super middleweights of all time, but their records fall well short of the super middleweight records of Benn, Collins, Eubank, Calzaghe, Kessler and others from europe.

Hopkins record is laughable until he hit 40 years old, far worse than Calzaghe's

Nobody would ever consider Lewis to be lower in all time great rankings than Tyson if their nationalties were reversed

So why is a resume with just americans on it considered better than a resume with just europeans?

Its already been answered for you. Americans in general dont rate euro boxing or boxers. Hence the arguments in your thread.

There are exceptions like the klits and calzaghe but even these are controversial in many americans eyes and many wont even admit they are good/very good fighters etc. Holding a title doesnt prove you are a great fighter, it only proves you have reached a level to allow you do do that in your weight class. It says very little about a fighters ability.

Yes, I agree with you about the titles, but i was just looking for a quantitative way of measuring it.
If boxing fans could approach a debate about a boxers ability without an innate prejudice based on where they are from, I think they would be free to form a much more accurate opinion on them.

However, I feel changing someone's mind through reasoned argument is too much to ask on this forum.
The general response from Americans can be summised as "Europeans are ****".
