    Re the OPs post....

Nah..... the US is actually doing better at 168 than pretty much ever before in history.

Dirrell, and Especially Ward are very very good boxers and Ward could be the best 168 in the world at the moment. He still is not really an attraction though because of his negative and somewhat boring style.. but he is a good boxer also.

And with Glen Johnson now also joining the party the US is gathering momentum at 168.

    Also Pavlik is coming...

and so on. There are even a couple of very talented Americans coming up. So I would say that the division is just very global and competitive.

Stop being pathetic and trying to cause trouble. Notice how when I said this has been the case for a while and listed Eubank and Benn, they are not caucasion, but are European and were fantastic SMW fighters.

Now what facts are falsified and dribble, oh I forgot you cant name any :patsch

In how they have been built up, yes.
Lacy never beat anyone at Kesslers level, but at the time would have been favoured to beat Kessler.
If you look at who Lacy fought, Reid, Tsypko and Vanderpool have done more at SMW than Miranda, Bika and Abraham. The 3 listed for Lacy are better than the 3 listed for Ward. I know Ward has beaten Kessler, which is the best fighter, but Lacy has 3 better fighters than Wards other 3 and Pemberton (world rated), Sheika and Manfredo (world rated)
So achievement wise they are not too far apart.
I expect Ward to be the better fighter, but results are what counts and if you went back to before Calzaghe beat Lacy, Lacy was blasting out alot of fighters and looking good doing it, compared to Ward who just out pointed Green etc

Wake up and look at the whole picture

I agree Bute hasnt fought the top guys yet but look at resumes overall

Bute beat Bika - better than Ward,
    Miranda - better than Ward,
Andrade twice, first time when Andrade was #3 SMW,
    Joppy,
Zuniga, better than Cloud and Cloud beating Zuniga has put him above Dawson
    Brinkley
Berrio - Holds a win over Steiglitz
    Magee European champ
    Mendy undefeated

    Ward has beaten
Kessler - A very good win better than any name on Bute resume but remember that Kessler was an unwell fighter
    Miranda
Green - who lost to Miranda
    Bika
Abraham on a winning run of 1 injury victory and then 2 losses the last being very decisive

Overall Bute has a better resume.

Do you think unwell Kessler, that one win is better than Berrio (IBF champ), Mendy, Andrade (then #3 SMW), Zuniga, Brinkley, Joppy combined?

Alot of Americans write this, but at world title level -

Jones Jnr spent more time at SMW than MW
Toney spent more time at SMW than at MW and LHW
Nunn spent more time at SMW than at MW and LHW

    So this isnt quite true.
Schooling you is far too easy Robert :smoke

As said even if Ward does beat Froch, he will lose to Bute. One or the other.

Very very true. I have said this for a long time. For years the SMW division has been tougher than LHW or MW.
Consider G Johnson couldnt do a thing at SMW, but did well at LHW

As for a stop gap division

Jones Jnr spent more time at SMW than MW
Toney spent more time at SMW than at MW and LHW
Nunn spent more time at SMW than at MW and LHW

    So this isnt quite true

Consider now that 3 of the 4 major world champs are European, and that the last holder of all those belts currently owned were also European

You're going to need to explain that one.

I think what Bailey is saying makes sense if you look at the history of the division objectively.

Even when Toney and Jones Jr were fighting at SMW their level of opponents was ridiculously low, especially at a time when the division was so strong.
