You cannot say that for sure. Upsets happen in boxing and the more variables there are in a bout (such as fighting on the road) means there is more chance of an upset happening.

At least everyone else travelled, whereas Ward hasn't.

    There is nobody making excuses.

Ward would probably have won the tournament, regardless of the circulsmtances. His skill, talent combined with his superior use of fouling suggests this.

Though of course, his intentional and full body weight headbutts in the end of the Kessler fight could have got him DQ'd. But he would probably be to clever to use such move outside Oakland.

Maybe. But I've explained my position on this matter before, and because of the way the tournament was affected with people coming in and out, the importance of people travelling became less of an issue for me. Ward was the person who was affected most by the injuries, which resulted in him fighting less of the Super Six originals - who would have been in the position to instate the travelling stipulations.

The shine in winning this tournament has, unfortunately, already been taken off due to the fighters not actually fighting the best. The travelling thing is minor. Which is why Ward has already said there are bigger and better things beyond this competition, and that he doesn't deserve the praise until he goes on to achieve these things.

He's never left America - he has absolutely no concept of how anything works outside of his hometown. Quite like Andre Ward, come to think of it . . . . :hey

  8. The first white explorer to visit Michigan was the Frenchman Étienne Brûlé in 1620, who began his expedition from Quebec City on the orders of Samuel de Champlain and traveled as far as the Upper Peninsula. Afterward, the area became part of Louisiana, one of the large colonial provinces of New France. The first permanent European settlement in Michigan was founded in 1668 at Sault Ste. Marie by Jacques Marquette, a French missionary.

The French built several trading posts, forts, and villages in Michigan during the late 17th century. Among them, the most important was Fort Pontchartrain du Détroit, established by Antoine de Lamothe Cadillac. This grew to become Detroit. Up until this time, French activities in the region were limited to hunting, trapping, trading with and the conversion of local Indians, and some limited subsistence agriculture. By 1760, the Michigan countryside had only a few hundred white inhabitants.

Territorial disputes between French and British colonists helped start the French and Indian War as part of the larger Seven Years' War, which took place from 1754 to 1763 and resulted in the defeat of France. As part of the Treaty of Paris, the French ceded all of their North American colonies east of the Mississippi River to Britain. Thus the future Michigan was handed over to the British. In 1774, the area was made part of Quebec. It continued to be sparsely populated. Regional growth proceeded slowly because the British were more interested in the fur trade and peace with the natives than in settlement of the area.

Six fighters and their promoters signed the ****ing contracts. If it was such a problem, negotiate it at the front end, don't ***** after the fact.

Good point. The fans should not talk about any boxing related matters that occur after a contract has been signed.

Set up to favour Ward... Yeah it was set-up to favour him. But that was because of great negotiating by Goosen who managed to get all Ward's fights at home.

So I dont think anybody will use it as an 'excuse', but its a big part in explaining Ward's success. Of course there's other factors such as favourable officiating and Victor Conte's 'vitamins'.

the bitches aka fans can debate whatever you please. As far as the fighters and the promoters are concerned, if they sign a contract that they deem is unfair then they need only look in the mirror to find the person to blame.
Thing is, if the tourney had actual seedings going into it, Ward and Dirrell would have been 5 and 6. The Euros considered them an afterthought.

that's funny. Seems to me, the after the fact whining about things being unfair is the cop out excuse.
