I am pretty sure I watched the fight, but remind me as to why you think he should have been DQed. Was due to his kidney punching?

Kidney punching, low blows, elbows, etc...I think he hit him after the bell too, but my copy goes straight to the commercial once the bell ends.

I'm used to seeing guys bend the rules, I expect them to do so, but this was just on another level.

By definition, Pedroza is one of the dirtiest fighters of all time.

He also pulled out "all stops" on Rocky Lockridge, in 2 fights.

He was from Panama......and WBA Panamanian officials dominated the
    organization at that time.

So as a WBA Champ, he pretty much did what he wanted to in
    the ring.

Maybe, but at some point, there was going to be a rematch. Guess who wins it?

True. Panamanian judge Rodolfo Hill scored the first Lockridge fight for Pedroza by 12 points. It was a close fight to everyone else including the other two judges.

Did the referee at least deduct some points from Pedroza?

I really don't care what you think.

The WBA was very corrupt in the 80s and 90s. Any objective poster who can keep his emotions in check knows that was the case.

I didn't really like Pedroza, Laporte or Lockridge. I was just calling it like it is.

Yes it's prizefighting, not a street brawl, and as such there are rules. Otherwise why not just let someone bring a baseball bat into the ring? Pedroza was good, very tough, great stamina, and faced some stiff competition. He was also quite the road warrior, which I always admire. However, his reign was probably extended a few years with officials turning a blind eye to his blatant fouling and some generous scoring in close fights.

He actually had three points deducted, one for hitting after the bell, one for a low blow and one for elbowing. It could have been a lot more as he was doing the latter two all through the fight. He must have had 100 warnings from the ref. Dundee and Clancy spent the whole fighting talking about Pedroza's dirty tactics.

Tough ,rough fight for Laporte. But if the referee didn't see it,,,,,,, One of Pederoza attributes was his intelligent fowling (Not saying its right) but he seemed to know exactly were the ref was at all times. Did he need to do it ? probably not, he was a heck of a fighter without the dirty tactics. Did it make the fight easier for himself? Of course it did, repeatedly hitting a opponent in the groin, elbowing behind a hook, thumbs in the eye or throat , stepping on opponents lead foot All that will wear an opponent down , esp in a situation where the opponent is younger, stronger, and fresher .And that was the situation in that fight, Laporte was the pup going in and it showed, he rarely retaliated, and depended on the ref. (That's if I remember that fight right) To fight the battle for him. Pedroza was a fascinating watch back in the 80's . I watched to see just what he could get away with. It was can't miss tv when he fought.
