Good stuff. It's funny, when I was listing middleweight and I threw out Lemieux as a name, I was actually thinking of a post I had recently read by you of middleweights you might give a slight chance to beat GGG.

And as for Pac-Floyd, I have to give it more thought still, but I think it's close to even.

Nice to see a well thought out youtube assessment

Good points raised and I think you have a fair assessment of GGG and of the big one so to speak

I don't rate GGG as an unbeatable god but he has been beating good fighters handily and is just waiting for his moment to rise to greatness

Some guys build careers on being victorious consistently over good fighters over a long period. others amass several great wins in big time fights

Golovkin does a lot right and presents so many challenges, I wouldn't favor him over Froch or Ward but I feel he gives Ward maybe the toughest fight over anyone 168 and down

I don't think GGG has to go to 168 as he has 3 good fights there and a possible few from 154 like Lara or Andrade or Canelo

While Ward has a few fights he can make at 168 as people pressure him to just leap to 175

Im hoping this year gives us GGG vs Cotto or Quillin/Lee, Ward vs Anthony Dirrel or Froch 2 and Kovalev vs Stevenson or at least Stevenson vs Hopkins

Good stuff, all. Agree with pretty much everything you say, and I too would very much like to see GGG get the chance to face Cotto or the Quillin-Lee winner. I wouldn't mind Hopkins vs Stevenson, Froch, or Chavez, and as for Ward, I hope he just fights someone - ANYONE - even if it's just a body for him to have a return bout with.

Nice! Great to see you doing some boxing ****ysis again Rummy, especially in the video format. Good on you!

And what youre saying about Gennady being a small middleweight isnt talked about very often but is so true. Murray looked almost a full weight class bigger (bizzare seeing the small dog relentlessly stalking and battering the big dog). Against a big elite like Ward or a big tough as nails warrior like Froch that would put him at a massive disadvantage

But.... he just might be THAT good (i'm probably in the over raters camp huh ;)

Looking forward to the next installment :cheers

Thanks! Bottom line for me with GGG is I'd like to see him stay at 160 for an extended period, following the Hagler model, and not getting too caught up in the temptations that will undoubtedly arise for him to move up.

Moving up in weight and winning multiple weight class titles is a trend that gets overrated when compared to a dominant champion longstanding within a single division. I tend to rate those the same, though, and hope GGG carves himself a nice legacy and the prestigious and historically rich middleweight division.

As far as Anselmo goes the shape of my eyes and face and hair is what's similar. Here's a better pic of the singer, which is a more accurate representation of his looks.

Macklin has movie star looks (minus the crooked nose) so that's going to soften up the psycho Pantera look a little. Thanks for sharing.

Hagler fought at middleweight and nobody said anything bad about it, but with Golovkin, pretty soon they will be wanting him to fight Vladimir Klitschko. Ward ran from Stevenson, Stevenson said he would go down to 168. When asked about Kovalev, Ward said that Kovalev was too big for him. Ward fought as a light heavyweight as an amateur. Golovkin said he could fight at 154 for a big fight, esp. against Void...............Golovkin wants Cotto next if possible, but Cotto is afraid of him, and for good reason. Quillin won't fight him. Golovkin wants to fight the winner of Lee/Quillin, Lee said he would fight him, but don't expect Quillin to.............Golovkin is the best 160 lb. fighter in the world today. There is a double standard against Golovkin, Ward is expected to fight Jr. middleweights or a small middleweight in his home town, with his personal referee, judges and boxing commission, yet I don't hear Ward fans calling for Ward to fight Kovalev or Stevenson, not even at 168. Ward said that Kovalev is too big for him, yet Ward would out weight Golovkin by 30 lbs. or more. Ward said he could easily beat both Klitschkos, but he did not sign to fight them.........The money fights for Golovkin at at 160, esp. a fight with Cotto which he is trying to get, he is Cotto's mandatory, probably would be PPV...............Why should Golovkin go up 8 lbs. and fight Ward for a few dollars at 168 when Ward is a nobody, most have forgotten him.............

Agreed, Farmy! GGG should be following the Hagler blueprint. Too much emphasis is placed on division jumping these days. GGG can dominate 160 for years to come!

Did you see the video? Let me know what you think, Farmy.

I see a lot of parallels with Golovkin and Hagler

I also see parallels with Golovkin and Hagler and Duran

Duran WAS "that good", but he moved up to face a guy he had NO chance of beating

People seem to be demanding the same of GGG, which really isnt fair when he's already small for the division he's in

Im with you on this Rummy, he should hang around at 160 and carve out a niche there. Its not long before he'll be lineal (Cotto vacating no doubt) and as his star power continues to rise (and it wont be long before he's boxings cash cow imo) he wont find fights as hard to come by

He can be as dominant a champ there as Hagler and Hopkins and be mentioned in the same breath when all's said and done
