Agreed. I miss the days of a fighter being master at a particular weight.

Nowadays more props are given to a fighter that ghosts through multiple weights and never really challenges the most difficult fighters for them.

Styles make fights, and weight jumping you can give the illusion that you're better than you are by picking guys who have an easy style for you at the different weights.

    I'm bored with it frankly

Enjoyed the video. Right up until the part where I vomited ie. the bit where you said one of my favourite fighters would get beat by my least favourite one. Other than that, good stuff though. :good

I like GGG, too. But I think Ward is a bad match for him in a similar way that I view Kovalev posing a big threat to Ward.

Spot on giving credit to Les Moonves. Fight doesn't get made without him. Excellent businessman, respected by all parties, and knows how to get a deal finished. Moonves obviously told everybody to keep negotiations out of the media, which they mostly were outside of a few comments here and there.

Airing out dirty laundry to the media, insulting the other party, doesn't help a business deal get signed.

Great work by Moonves. Just great work.

i'm not going to worry if Golovkin doesn't get a mega-fight anytime soon. who knows what would happen if he got relatively filthy rich. his team might slow down his activity, his wife might beg him to quit. i like things the way they are. 4 scheduled massacres vs the best middleweight who will get in the ring with him per year. Cotto would get blasted out in a few rounds, not much of a fight except for money and prestige.

    Rumsfeld,

Great video, I agree Golovkin should stay at 160 to unify the titles, however at some point the Ward fight has to happen.

I don't see this as anything but a 50/50 fight.

    Ward has:
    1. A few pounds -both guys will be between 175 and 180lb on fight night.
    2. A 1.5" height advantage - really not enough to be a big advantage
    3. A 1" reach advantage - again, too marginal to make a difference
    4. Better head movement - no question this is better than GGG's.
    5. Better upper body movement - this is a big deal

    Golovkin has:
    1. Power - enough power to almost even out Ward's 1,2&3 advantages
    2. Chin - Ward is not knocking GGG out, but GGG will have 12rnds to hurt Ward
    3. Pressure - this will hamper Wards timing and distance, force him to trade
    4. Footwork - Ward will be cutoff and this too will effect his timing/distance
    5. Accuracy - combined with high output and power is tough to out score.

So essentially you have a slightly bigger guy with great movement and timing, against a guy with better footwork, power, accuracy and output. Both are kings of their division, with excellent Pro and Amateur backgrounds.

    Styles

Both present a major challenge to each other. Ward won't like that GGG has elite footwork that will disrupt his rhythm and put GGG in position to land hard shots, and he won't like trading so many shots with a guy that is this aggressive and accurate. Ward's style is to play with fire - you can't do this with a concussion because the precision is lost.

Golovkin won't like the bigger man clinching, he will have trouble finding his shots on Ward and he will not like Ward hitting him on the way in. He will have trouble overcoming the sore cards if he can't put Ward on the ropes and land some grimacing shots.

At the end of the day, no one can make a strong argument that Golovkin will find Ward, or that Ward will go 12 without getting a concussion. Pickem' fight if there ever was one.

Oh and I stopped listening when you brought up two guys I had never heard of, well, I might of heard about that pacweather guy, but not the mayquiao dude.

I don't find it the least bit disrespectful to Golovkin to suggest that Ward is a bad look for him stylistically.

When you turn it around, GGG is a might troublesome to Ward also. If Abraham and Bika showed a little game, GGG might find 6 rounds for himself.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

Thanks for watching and providing feedback, BE! :cheers

    Let me address each:

    * I'm with you! I'd give him tremendous credit for trying. I'll go a step further, and say his skill alone would allow him to succeed at 168. He's that good. But I agree Ward is an ill-advised move for him, and I really don't think I would favor him against Froch either (although that match-up intrigues me to no end).

    * Maybe you're right. Maybe I'm being deceived, and in the grand scheme, GGG is more of a "standard sized" middleweight. I'll concede you could be right, but all the same, I still see him as a small middleweight. Let me further elaborate and say I don't mean "small" in the sense of Cotto, who isn't even a true middleweight in my eyes. He's probably between there and standard to me. But the important point I was attempting to make, is that GGG does not have the frame to carry everything up to 168. As stated, his skill alone would allow him to be very successful on some level. But I don't like his frame at 168 - AT ALL. I think everything gets watered down - his skills and abilities in addition to what would almost certainly be watered down power and speed (and he isn't the speediest in any case).

Back to Ward, as David Fanning constantly tried explaining to people, he's a BULLY. He's a strong superb athlete who has tremendous instincts when it comes to beating people up, in a large variety of ways, and he has an IQ that's superior to virtually everyone out there today. But Ward competed at 178 in the amateurs, and his frame is too big for GGG - forgetting the other natural advantages in skills, IQ, size, etc. (GGG incidentally has a vastly underrated ring IQ and exhibits impeccably brilliant patience). Even with a Froch, the frame...

Bottom line for me - he's small to me because his frame won't allow him to jump to 168 without losing 1 or 2 f-stops in photography terms.

    * Glad you approve of the "egomaniac jerkoffs" context!:good

And as for the RED WIRE... :rofl
