Evander Holyfield: American Hero. Yes or no?

    Great fighter but hero? The guy was running around spouting all this religious stuff constantly while he was fathering god knows how many kids out of wedlock. Very hypocritical if you ask me. Not very heroic

    If anything Tysons the anti hero. I used to be a big Holyfield hater (Being a Tyson fan), however after studying the great mans career, i realised hes a true warrior and a great fightyer in his own right.

    But there is the whole Evan Fields Scenario which raises questions marks.

    Look at Holyfield from 1991 (When he was originally meant to face Tyson) and then compare him to the Holyfield who fought Tyson in 96. He defo looks like he was on something.

    Great Fighter, has his questions marks, but not a hero IMO.

    Ali, Louis and Pacqiao (in Asia/Phillipines) qualify for hero status IMO, because they transcended the sport

    I'm not sure I know what a hero is. If it's someone who stood their ground and fought their heart out in their prime, then Holyfield qualifies.
